2014 Internet advertising market expanded to 2 trillion

On the 14th, after the 60th Korea Communications Commission, the Korea Communications Commission announced a comprehensive plan to revitalize the Internet advertising market.

With the goal of’expanding the Internet advertising market to a scale of 2 trillion won’ by 2014, the Korea Communications Commission is pursuing 10 key tasks in the three areas, such as developing a new advertising market, advancing the distribution structure, and creating a sound use base.

In this regard, the Korea Communications Commission launched the’Mobile Advertising Policy Forum’ on March 29, and prepared a master plan to revitalize the Internet advertising market, including mobile advertising, by gathering a wide range of opinions from various fields of society such as industry and academia.

Internet advertising is currently a core industry of Internet business, and the global Internet advertising market is developing into an influential medium along with TV and newspapers with sales of $54.5 billion in 2009.

In addition, in Korea, Internet advertising accounts for a high proportion of 16.4% (1,2978 billion won) in the total advertising market.

In particular, the new advertising market combined with smartphones and SNS is emerging as a key growth engine of the internet industry, and global companies are competitively introducing new advertising platforms to preoccupy the new advertising market.

On the other hand, the domestic Internet advertising market has been demanding improvement measures to promote the market and strengthen global competitiveness due to problems such as inadequate securing of a competitive platform, weak distribution structure, and low reliability.

Accordingly, the Korea Communications Commission decided to pursue ten key tasks in the three areas under the goal of expanding the overall scale of the advertising market by pioneering a new advertising market, advancing the distribution structure, and establishing a sound use base to become a global Internet advertising powerhouse.
