Former Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon was elected as the single candidate of the opposition mayor after defeating the National Assembly representative Ahn Cheol-soo. It is based on the results of a unified public opinion poll finally agreed on the 21st after a fierce tug-of-war between the people’s strength and President Ahn’s National Assembly. Mayor Oh received 100% of the wireless phones claimed by Ahn, and President Ahn accepted the questionnaire selection (mixed of competitiveness and suitability) claimed by Candidate Oh, and in the end, Mayor Oh won.
Even in the election of the People’s Strength candidate earlier this month, many people unexpectedly accepted the victory of the former mayor. It was an atmosphere that everyone expected a leisurely victory for former Liberal Korean Party leader Na Gyeong-won, who had strong support on the conservative side. It is because the support of the party members was so focused on the former representative of the hospital. However,’Dang Shim’ and’Min-Shim’ were different, and the former mayor defeated me with a greater-than-expected approval rating gap.
It was from this time that the approval ratings of the former market, which had been sluggish, have been hitting and rising. The former mayor continued to pursue the approval rating of Ahn, who was consistently leading in public opinion polls, and finally succeeded in reversing from last week. Even if I went to a three-way structure, it was even said that the former mayor would win. The process of unifying the opposition powers, which continued to draw attention, had a convention effect, and the recent advance of speculation by LH employees in the new city broke out, and the administrative power of the former mayor, which had good results in the real estate issue, began to emerge. In addition, with regard to the abandonment of the mayor’s job ten years ago, which is the weakness of the former mayor and can be called “original sin,” the former mayor said “sorry” and “indebted” and breaking through the head-on can be seen as a positive effect.
As elections are held on the basis of political party politics, there is a part that put more weight on the people’s strength candidate, who has more than 100 seats anyway, rather than the small candidate of the National Assembly, which is small enough to be called the `Ahn Cheol-su party`. As the theory of government judgment is the hottest topic in this election, public opinion that the power of the people, the first opposition party, can do the best. In fact, in an appeal before the poll on the 22nd, Mayor Oh said, “A candidate for the 1st opposition party with a solid and solid organization and funds necessary to recapture Seoul against the ruling ruling party and achieve a regime change next year, and a broad base of support. Is the power of the people Oh Se-hoon.”
Some say that Ahn’s increased contact points with’extreme actors’ to fill his insufficient pay base gave the middle class an unfavorable image. On the 22nd, Ahn criticized the Democratic Party candidate Park Young-sun, calling him a “Tokyo Ajumma.” It’s a high-level remark that isn’t usually a representative, but women’s resentment is strong.
In the end, Mayor Oh came down from the re-elected mayor 10 years ago and became a single candidate for the opposition again after proclaiming himself a savage life. After he gave up the post of Mayor of Seoul in 2011, he suffered only defeat again and again.
In 2016, in the election of the 20th National Assembly member, he tried to return to the political sphere by coming to the Jongno area of Seoul, but he failed. At the time, Jeong Sye-gyun was pushed down by the Democratic Party candidate. The following year, he ran for the presidential election and tried to grow in size. However, he gave up when Ban Ki-moon, former UN Secretary-General, emerged as a prominent president.
In 2019, he ran for the National Freedom Korean Party (the predecessor of the people’s strength). However, he was not able to become the party’s representative, ranking second after Hwang Gyo-an’s former Prime Minister. In last year’s 21st National Assembly election, he ran for Gwangjin-gu, Seoul. However, he was defeated by Democratic Party candidate Kohn Jeong-jeong, who served as a spokesman for the Blue House in the Moon Jae-in administration. Since then, he suffered a significant political blow.
He is trying to recover by challenging the by-election of the 4.7 mayor of Seoul. In the current opinion poll, the former mayor is advantageous, but it is not known what will happen with the election nearly two weeks remaining. Oh, the former mayor has crossed the wall of difficult opposition unification, but is still leaving a match against the Democratic Party candidate. Depending on the outcome of this match, the topography of the opposition is expected to change, and the political fate of the former mayor is expected to be determined.
