On the 27th, the authorities decided to extend the ‘2.5 steps to distance the metropolitan area and the second step in the non-metropolitan area’ by 6 days, raising the level of quarantine for some controversial business types.
According to the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters (the main script), fast food restaurants such as McDonald’s and Lotteria should not give seats to customers who only order coffee, drinks, and desserts in the second stage of social distancing.
Only packaging and delivery sales are allowed for customers who do not eat, which is the same as the measures currently applied to bakery cafes and brunch cafes.
As fast food restaurants were banned from eating and drinking in cafes, customers flocked to fast food restaurants, and confusion over the range of’meals’ allowed in the business place made it clear the quarantine rules for fast food restaurants.
In the script, the ban on sitting in unmanned cafe stores, which was applied only to the metropolitan area, was also applied nationwide. Even unmanned cafes are considered’cafes’ and only packaging and delivery are allowed.
The ban on gatherings at Hold’em Pub, which was applied only to the metropolitan area, will expand to non-metropolitan areas.
Hold’em Pub is a tavern where you can enjoy card games while drinking. Earlier this month, a group ban was imposed on the hold’em pubs in the metropolitan area as a result of the outbreak of group infection in the Itaewon area of Seoul.
This measure is effective until January 3, next year, when steps 2.5 and 2 for social distancing in the metropolitan and non-metropolitan areas, respectively.
