(Seoul = Yonhap News) Reporter Ahn Hong-seok = More than 100 cases have been reported to health authorities in Korea, claiming that an adverse reaction is suspected after vaccination against a novel coronavirus infection (Corona 19).

The Central Defense Response Headquarters (Bang Dae-bon) announced that 147 new cases were reported as adverse reactions after vaccination as of 0 o’clock on the 3rd.

Among them, the number of deaths reported increased by two to a cumulative 32. The causality between vaccination and death has not yet been confirmed.

One of them was the AstraZeneca (AZ) vaccine and the other was the Pfizer vaccine.

This is the first time a report of the death of a Pfizer vaccinated person has been received.

The death toll was a 76-year-old man in Nowon-gu, Seoul, and it was investigated that he had suffered from kidney failure about six years ago. It was included in the vaccination target for seniors aged 75 or older that started on the 1st of this month, and died on the 2nd 15 hours after vaccination at 3pm on the first day.

The other death was a woman in her 70s with an underlying disease, who received the AstraZeneca vaccine at the nursing hospital she was hospitalized on the 25th of last month, and died on the 27th of the same month, 8 hours after 2 days.

The number of suspected cases of’anaphylaxis’, which is a severe systemic allergic reaction, and severe suspected cases (inpatient hospitalization in the intensive care unit) increased by one. These are all AstraZeneca vaccinations.

The remaining 143 cases were relatively mild symptoms such as muscle pain, headache, fever, chills, and nausea.

As a result, since vaccination began on the 26th of last month, there have been a cumulative number of 10,968 reports of suspected adverse reactions. As of 0 o’clock on this day, it is 1.12% of the 979,000 936 cumulative inoculations in Korea.

Among them, AstraZeneca vaccine was related to 10,495 cases, accounting for 95.6% of all reports. There were 473 cases (4.4%) related to Pfizer vaccine.

This appears to be due to the number of AstraZeneca vaccinations (853,579) far more than Pfizer vaccinations (12,357).

The reporting rate of adverse reactions compared to those inoculated is 1.23% for AstraZeneca vaccine and 0.37% for Pfizer vaccine.

In the case of adverse reactions reported so far, there were 108 suspected cases of anaphylaxis (94 cases of AstraZeneca, 14 cases of Pfizer), of which 100 cases were anaphylactic reactions and 8 cases of anaphylaxis shock.

Suspected cases of anaphylaxis are largely divided into anaphylaxis, anaphylactic shock, and anaphylactic reactions. Anaphylaxis-like reaction is a case where dyspnea and urticaria appear within 2 hours after vaccination. The symptoms are similar to anaphylaxis, but they can be improved with symptomatic therapy, so it is not a problem, experts explained.

There are 17 cases of suspicion of serious adverse reactions. Seven cases of nervous system reactions such as convulsions and 10 hospitalizations in the intensive care unit were related to the AstraZeneca vaccine.

In addition, 11,811 cases, which accounted for 98.5% of all reports of adverse reactions, were mild cases such as muscle pain, headache, fever, and nausea, which are common after vaccination.
