Although the city of Seoul took off on the snow removal work, the reaction of the citizens who had suffered from the’work-out crisis’ due to the last heavy snow was bleak. As the snow became strong, reactions poured out, saying, “I’m already worried about my way home from work,” and “I will go home by public transportation today without driving.”

Office worker Kim Mo (44) said, “I drove four hours due to heavy snow on the last 6 days, and eventually I left the car and returned home. Fortunately, I left my car at home, but I will take the subway when I go to work tomorrow.”

Another office worker said, “I had a hellish experience during the last heavy snowfall,” and “a colleague heard that the bus was trapped in the Namsan tunnel and walked off the bus.” He said, “I was lucky to get on the subway at the time, but the town bus was not running, so I barely climbed up the hillside, holding on to the trees,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Seoul Transportation Corporation started intensive subway dispatch on the way to and from work. The intensive dispatch time for trains on the way home from work is extended by 2 hours, from 6 pm to 10 pm. In the morning of the next day, on the morning of the 13th, the train intensive dispatch time is also increased by 30 minutes to reduce congestion on the way to work. Train dispatches increase from 7 am to 9:30 am, which is the rush hour.

Je-Hyun Han, head of the Seoul City Safety Office, said, “Because the snow may continue until after work, please refrain from using cars and use public transportation.”
