[아시아경제 이동우 기자] The spread of COVID-19 outbreak at the cricket boiler factory in Asan, Chungcheongnam-do continues.

With the completion of the total inspection of 641 employees, the confirmation of employees is showing signs of calm, but the nth infection of family members and acquaintances who have contacted them is sporadic.

According to the city of Chungnam-do and Asan on the 17th, eight more confirmed cases related to the cricket boiler plant in Chungnam-do on that day alone.

The cumulative number of employees so far was 129 (including 5 Daejeon families). 102 employees were confirmed, and 27 family members and acquaintances were also infected. Nine of the staff were tested in different locations and received positive notifications.

Earlier, the first confirmed cases occurred on the 13th, which is the Lunar New Year holiday in this factory.

It is reported that many employees visited their hometown during the Lunar New Year holidays and met their families and acquaintances without knowing this. Some employees were tested positive in their hometowns.

In Daegu, Gyeongsan, Chuncheon, and Osan, nine confirmed employees of the Asan cricket boiler plant were found. There were six confirmed cases in Daejeon that day, of which five are the families of employees of the cricket factory that they met during the Lunar New Year holidays.

In Cheongdo, Gyeongsangbuk-do, two people who had contacted three factory workers during the Lunar New Year were notified of training. Family members of cricket factory employees in Daegu, Gyeonggi-do Siheung, and Busan were confirmed to be infected, but they were not included in the total number of employees.

The quarantine authorities are also tense that more than 20 foreigners are included among the confirmed cases. In Chungcheongnam-do, until recently, a group infection occurred mainly in foreign workers at a Thai food store in Cheonan and a broiler processing plant in Dangjin, which caused measles once.
