The number of confirmed cases of group infection of the new coronavirus infection (Corona 19) in the eastern detention center of Seoul is increasing.
According to the Ministry of Justice on the 5th, the number of corona 19 confirmed cases in correctional facilities nationwide as of 6 pm on the 5th was counted as 1,125, 9 more than 25 hours ago.
Compared to the 1,121 people announced as of 7 am on the day, three confirmed prisoners related to the Eastern Detention Center (two in Seoul Southern Prison and one in Yeongwol Prison) and one released from the Eastern Detention Center were added. The Ministry of Justice completed the 6th total inspection on 429 employees and 338 detainees at the Seoul East Detention Center on that day, but the results have not yet come out. In the Jeju prison, where the total number of prisoners was investigated, all negative judgments came out.
The number of confirmed detainees by institution was 606 in Eastern Detention Center, 341 in North Gyeongsang Province 2, 19 in Gwangju, 15 in South Seoul, 5 in Seoul, and 1 in Gangwon North Prison, Cheonan Prison, and Yeongwol Prison.
The Ministry of Justice’s correctional headquarters is discussing a plan to conduct a full corona19 test for more than 70,000 prisoners and employees of 52 correctional institutions nationwide. Officials from the correctional headquarters of the Ministry of Justice will attend the regular briefing of the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters held on the morning of the 6th, explaining the situation and future countermeasures related to the Dongbu Detention Center, and will reveal the plan for full inspection.
