The 111th anniversary memorial service was held at Haedongsa Temple in Jangheung-myeon, Jangheung-gun, Jeollanam-do at 10 am on March 26th. Juksan Ahn’s Munjung is offering a ritual at Haedongsa Temple where Ahn Jung-geun’s tablet is enshrined.
A memorial service was held in honor of Dr. Ahn Jung-geun (1879-1910) at Haedongsa Temple in Jangheung-gun, Jeollanam-do at 10 am on the 26th. The 26th is the 111th cycle of Ahn Jung-geun. Doctor Ahn Jung-geun died on March 26, 1910 in Lushun prison in China. At the time, he was thirty-two years old.
Haedongsa Temple is the only shrine in Korea that enclosed the tablet of Ahn Jung-geun. Doctor Ahn Jung-geun has no connection with Jangheung, Jeollanam-do, but found out that he has no descendants to perform rites, and Munjung of Ahn from Juksan has been offering memorial rites since 1955. Doctor Ahn Jung-geun is Sunheung Ahn, and Juksan Ahn was derived from Sunheung Ahn. Until 2019, the ritual of Dr. Ahn Jung-geun was held on March 12, when Ahn’s tense was held in Juksan, and has been on the day of his death from last year, the 110th anniversary of his death.
Jeonnam Governor Kim Young-rok is giving a memorial address at the 111th anniversary memorial service for Doctor Ahn Jung-geun held at Haedongsa Temple in Jangheung, Jeollanam-do.
More than 50 people attended the memorial festival, including Jeonnam Governor Kim Young-rok, Jeong Jong-soon, Jangheung County head, Yoo Sang-ho, chairman of the Jangheung County Council, and Juksan Ahn’s Munjung. The Jeonnam Governor attended the festival for the first time on this day. The heat of coverage was also hotter than any other year. Broadcasters such as KBS and YTN relayed the memorial site. The news was announced on the 1st of this magazine’s article (’67th year ritual in Jangheung mountain villages with no connection…the sad family history of Ahn Jung-geun’) to commemorate Dr. Ahn Jung-geun for 67 years at Jangheung, an unrelated place.
At the 111th anniversary memorial festival for Dr. Ahn Jung-geun held at Haedongsa Temple in Jangheung, Jeollanam-do on the 26th, a local theater company’Male’ performed the’Ito Hiromumi Sniper Replay’.
The memorial festival began with a traditional ritual, followed by reports to the pharmacist Ahn Jung-geun, reading his will, and worshiping incense incense. Local theater company’Male’ performed the’Ito Hirobumi Sniper Reenactment’ in commemoration of the 111th anniversary of the death. I watched the moment when the young man Ahn Jung-geun aimed his gun at Ito Hirobumi’s heart, all silently.
Jeonnam Governor Kim Young-rok said in a memorial address, “Now there are numerous crises including Corona 19 in front of us. It is a time when Ahn Jung-geun’s spirit of patriotism and love is needed more than ever.” Jeong Jong-soon, head of Jangheung County, said, “We plan to build a memorial hall, a history experience education facility, and a patriotic trail with 7 billion won in the area of Haedongsa.” Jangheung-gun operates an online memorial incense center for Dr. Ahn Jung-geun on the Jangheung-gun Office website until midnight on the 26th. Currently, more than 1,700 people have finished offerings online.
