It was later known that French national actor Gerard Departieu, 72, was charged with sexual assault on an actress.
According to AFP news agency on the 23rd (local time), Gerard Departieu was indicted in December on charges of sexual assault on her 20s actress and writer A at her home in August 2018.
It has been investigated since 2018, but the preliminary investigation was suspended in June 2019 due to insufficient evidence. Since then, re-investigation began last summer and prosecution was made in winter.
Departieu is not in custody and denies all charges. “I am confident that innocence will be revealed,” his lawyer said.
Gerard Departieu is a French national actor who has appeared in 170 films such as’Life of Pie’,’Iron Mask’, and’Does Love Make a Bargain’. ‘Sirano’ won the Best Actor Award at the Cannes Film Festival in 1990 and the Cesar Film Festival in 1991, and was nominated for Best Actor at the American Academy Awards in the same year.
