Producer Joon-young Ahn, who has been tried and accused of manipulating the ranking vote of Mnet’s music channel, Mnet’s audition program,’Produce 101′, has been sentenced to imprisonment.

The third division of the Supreme Court (Presiding Judge Kim Jae-hyung) confirmed a court trial sentenced to Ahn, who was accused of fraud and other charges, sentenced to two years in prison and an additional surcharge of 37 million won (17078 in 2020).

In Mnet’s’Produce 101′ audition program, while arbitrarily manipulating the vote results and rankings of viewers, as if the rankings were determined according to the contents of the votes voted by viewers, Ahn was charged with inducing paid text voting to interfere with work. In addition, the entertainment agency officials received entertainment in exchange for fraudulent solicitation, and were also charged with suspicion of bad news.

Earlier, the first trial and the appeals trial admitted Ahn’s charges and sentenced him to a surcharge of 37 million won for two years in prison. Both Ahn’s side and the prosecution’s side appealed to this, but the Supreme Court dismissed it.

The judiciary judged that “there is no fault of misunderstanding the laws of deliberation and deception of fraud, contrary to the law of logic and experience in the judgment of centrifugal guilty, beyond the limits of libertarianism.”

On the other hand, a court trial sentenced to one year and eight months in prison was also confirmed for general producer Kim Yong-beom, who was charged with the same charges. In addition, executives and employees of entertainment companies who were charged with making fraudulent solicitations to Mr. Ahn and providing entertainment have also been confirmed as the court case sentenced with two years probation and 120 hours of social service orders after eight months in prison.
