On this morning, in front of Chairman Shin’s vacancy prepared at the funeral hall of Seoul National University Hospital, it was filled with a wreath sent by political and business people.

The first person who visited the poor was Chairman Shin Joon-ho. Following him, Hwang Gak-gyu, former vice chairman of Lotte Holdings, Choi Eun-young, chairman of Yusu Holdings (formerly Chairman Hanjin Shipping), and Kim Yun, chairman of Samyang Holdings also condolenced.

The deceased second daughter, Shin Yun-gyeong, and son-in-law Seo Gyeong-bae, also kept the criticism.

Lotte Group chairman Shin Dong-bin, his nephew, replaced it by sending a flower wreath to the funeral. It is known that Shin is currently staying in Japan. SDJ Corporation Chairman Shin Dong-joo is also staying in Japan, so it is expected that he will not attend the funeral. Even after returning home, considering the period of self-isolation, provisions are virtually impossible.

Earlier, in January of last year, his younger brother, Shin Chun-ho, did not attend the funeral of the late Lotte Group honorary chairman Shin Gyeok-ho, the father of the two brothers.

Instead, Shin Dong-won, vice chairman of Nongshim Group, a child of Chairman Shin Chun-ho, participated in the funeral and expressed condolences. At the time, the reason for the absence of Chairman Shin Chun-ho was unknown.

The conflict between the brothers of President Shin Chun-ho and President Shin Gyeok-ho is well known in the business world. It started when Chairman Shin Chun-ho entered the ramen business despite the opposition of his older brother, Chairman Gyeok-ho Shin.

Chairman Gyeok-ho Shin felt uncomfortable with the overlapping business areas with Lotte and the inclusion of’Lotte’ in the product name. Eventually, the goal of the conflict began to deepen when he notified Chairman Shin Chun-ho to subtract’Lotte’ from his mission.

Afterwards, Chairman Shin Chun-ho changed his mission to Nongshim, and the two brothers, who had no official exchanges since then, could not end the conflict until the day they died.

Chairman Shin, who has been leading Nongshim for 56 years, passed away from a chronic illness at around 3:38 am on the same day at the age of 92.
