On the 15th, a part of the interior of the Hyundai Motors Ioniq 5 electric vehicle with an eco-friendly method applied was revealed through a teaser image.
The most noticeable thing in the interior of the Ioniq 5 is the disappearance of the Hyundai Motor Company logo on the steering wheel (handle). Hyundai Motor Company has put its own logo on the steering wheel horn (horn) of all new cars it has released so far, but the Ionic 5 broke the convention.
A Hyundai Motor Company official said, “The Hyundai Motor Company logo is not included in the actual vehicle of the Ioniq 5”. The specific reason has not been disclosed yet. In the future, we plan to examine the features of the Ioniq 5 steering wheel without the Hyundai Motor Company logo at the launch of the vehicle.
On the right side of the Ioniq 5 steering wheel, you can see a button to execute driving assistance functions such as Smart Cruise Control (SCC) and Lane Maintenance Assistance (LFA). It is expected that the next-generation highway driving assistance (HDA2) function installed in the major Genesis models will be applied to the Ioniq 5.
Unlike existing Hyundai cars, the Ioniq 5 doesn’t have an SBW (shift-by-wire) shift button on the top of the center console. Instead, you can shift to a gear located next to the steering wheel. P (parking) can be executed by pressing the rightmost button on the shift lever, and R (reverse), N (neutral), D (driving), etc. can be operated with the lever dial.

The dashboard consists of a center fascia display and a full digital cluster of instrument clusters. Each is expected to be manufactured in 12.3 inches in size.
The Ionic 5 full digital cluster is expected to apply a new user experience (UI) that has not been seen in Hyundai Motors and Kia. The vehicle interior ambient light is also expected to be seen on the IONIC 5.
Ionic 5 first row driver and passenger seats have leg rests. Hyundai explained that this leg rest can be used to use a relaxation comfort seat. This feature was shown at the Kia Carnival last year.
In particular, the center console can be moved back and forth depending on user settings. Hyundai Motor Company calls it’Universal Island’.

On the 15th, Hyundai Motor Company also released a short video explaining the driving method of Universal Island. When the passenger in the first row of passengers moves the seat backward, the center console such as the cup holder goes back together. It has not been confirmed that Universal Island will move with the driver’s seat pushed back.
Hyundai Motor Company has confirmed the global release schedule of Ioniq 5 at 4 pm on the 23rd in Korea. Hyundai Motor Company plans to launch vehicles in Korea from April after launching in Europe in March. Vehicle prices and subsidies are undecided.
