North Korea has declared a break in diplomatic relations with Malaysia and strongly criticized the United States in response to Malaysia’s handing over North Koreans to the United States on charges of illegal money laundering.

This is expected to be another negative factor in US-North Korea relations as it occurred in the midst of a fierce battle in North America ahead of the establishment of a new US policy toward North Korea.

Diplomatic relations between North Korea and Malaysia were eventually destroyed.

In response to Malaysia’s opposition to handing over to the United States, a North Korean businessman who was also requested to transfer US recruits on charges of illegal money laundering, North Korea brought out a super storm of “breaking diplomatic relations.”

The North Korean Foreign Ministry issued a statement and accused Malaysia of committing an unacceptable crime in which the Malaysian authorities sold innocent citizens as criminals and forced them to extradite them to the United States.

In addition, the incident was part of the US hostile maneuver to isolate and crush North Korea, and threatened that the US would also pay a reasonable price.

In May 2019, the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation requested Moon to hand over recruits to Malaysia for violating sanctions on North Korea and for money laundering.

After the breakdown of the Hanoi talks, it was a time when all inter-Korean relations fell into a rapid cooling phase.

Moon denied the charges, but the Malaysian court approved the extradition in December of the same year, and after a third trial, the Supreme Court also reached out to the US earlier this month.

The relationship between North Korea and Malaysia, which was established in 1973, was rapidly estranged by meeting the ambassadors of the other country when Kim Jong-nam’s half-hyeong Kim Jong-nam was assassinated at Kuala Lumpur International Airport in 2017.

Interest is focused on how the Indian issue of Moon will have an impact on US-North Korea relations, which are drawing attention after the establishment of the Biden government.
