Today’s call is the first phone call since President Biden took office, right?

Yes, it is.

The first phone call between the ROK and the US was made today, 14 days after US President Biden took office on the 20th of last month.

The Blue House said there was a phone call between President Moon Jae-in and US President Joe Biden from 8:25 to 32 this morning.

In the call, President Moon congratulated President Biden on his inauguration and expressed his hopes that the United States will realize a vision for national unity and better reconstruction under President Biden’s leadership.

President Biden said he was grateful for his warm congratulations and support, and replied that the relationship between Korea and the United States has continued to progress for 70 years, and that he looks forward to strengthening this relationship in more areas in the future.

The Blue House said in the call, the two leaders reaffirmed that the two countries are key allies for peace and prosperity in the region.

He also explained that as a responsibility alliance that shares values, it has decided to continue developing the relationship with a comprehensive strategic alliance that contributes to the promotion of multilateralism beyond the Korean Peninsula and the Indo-Pacific region.

Yes, in today’s Tonghua, the two leaders are committed to a joint effort to establish peace on the Korean Peninsula.

President Moon first told President Biden that the two countries should work together to advance the denuclearization and peace settlement of the Korean Peninsula.

In response, President Biden evaluated the efforts of South Korea, the main party to resolve the Korean Peninsula, and said that the same position as Korea is important, and that he will cooperate closely for a common goal.

The Cheong Wa Dae reported that the two leaders agreed that there is a need to come up with a comprehensive strategy toward North Korea as soon as possible.

Together with this, the ROK-US leaders agreed that improvement of ROK-Japan relations and cooperation between the ROK-US and Japan are important for peace in the region, and shared opinions on the situation in other countries such as Myanmar and China.

The two leaders also decided to accelerate reciprocal cooperation in global challenges such as responding to climate change and supplying corona vaccines and treatments.

Lastly, the two leaders agreed to continue close communication in the future and hold a Korea-US summit as soon as the corona situation subsides.

President Moon left a post on social media after completing the summit between the US and Korea, right?

Yes, President Moon Jae-in ended the phone call and delivered the news of the normal Korean-US call through social media.

President Moon said in a call with President Biden that he welcomed the return of the United States amid the overlapping global crisis, such as corona, climate change and economic polarization.

He also said that he has made a promise with President Biden to upgrade the ROK-US alliance based on common values.

At the same time, he wrote,’Let’s go together,’ saying that he will always be with us not only for peace on the Korean Peninsula but also for responding to global issues.
