Jin-do Kim, a fisherman who was working near the anti-aircraft shooting range of the Taean Institute of Defense in Chungnam in June last year,

I was amazed when a target flag shot down by an anti-aircraft firearm instead of a fish caught the net hit to catch cuttlefish and flounder.

The 4m long and 2m wide target flag destroyed Mr. Kim’s net, the crane pulling the net, and some of the fishing boats.

Mr. Kim requested compensation of 12 million won for being unable to work for two months after this incident, but the Army paid only 3.2 million won for the net.

In regret, he applied for a reconsideration by the Ministry of Defense, but the compensation paid after six months of the accident was 1.2 million won.

The Ministry of Defense said that national compensation could take up to six months, and that the compensation amount was processed according to procedures.

However, not only parachutes, but also shells, target flags, and even unexploded bullets are caught up, causing fishermen to complain of anxiety one after another.

They claim that this sea area is a place where shooting drills are conducted frequently and can lead to accidents at any time.

The Association of Shipowners in the Taean region repeatedly demands correct compensation and countermeasures from the military, saying that training debris is caught on average at an average of dozens per month during the fishing season.

Military authorities said that the explosives disposal team is active at the site in consideration of the safety of fishermen, and that they will look for any deficiencies in the future.
