Last week in Europe, controversy over whether the AstraZeneca vaccine could cause blood clots was controversial. However, the European Medicines Agency officially announced that there is no scientific causality between vaccines and blood clots after expert verification. The World Health Organization has also consistently recommended uninterrupted vaccination of the AstraZeneca vaccine.
As a result of a close review of these overseas evaluation results and cases of adverse reactions in Korea at the Corona 19 Vaccination Specialized Committee convened yesterday, it was once again confirmed that there is no problem with the safety of the AstraZeneca vaccine. The detailed review results and recommendations of the committee will be reported to the public tomorrow.
From the day after tomorrow, vaccinations for residents over 65 years of age and workers in nursing hospitals and facilities begin. We repeatedly ask you to believe in the results of domestic and overseas scientific verification and actively participate in vaccination according to the government’s recommendations for public safety.
Recently, there has been a social controversy over Seoul’s mandatory diagnostic tests for foreigners. As the head of the company headquarters, I am sorry that the Seoul Metropolitan Government quickly withdrew the administrative order.
The government has consistently practiced openness, transparency, and democracy as the three principles of quarantine. I would like to say that I will make sure that there is no time limit for quarantine in the field, but taking this work as a lesson, I will implement sensibility and receptive quarantine measures from the perspective of consumers.
As the spirit of spring is clearing, crowds are coming to major tourist destinations, leisure and shopping facilities every weekend. In particular, as cherry blossoms begin to bloom from this week, the amount of movement is expected to increase further.
We fully understand the accumulated frustration caused by going out, meetings, and trips that have been careful for over a year. I am very sorry for the situation where I have to refrain from even ordinary and simple activities.
However, we know from experience that the war on Corona is in full swing and that when it loosens, times of greater pain are approaching. With the heart of protecting the health and safety of me, my family and my neighbors, I ask you to be patient and thoroughly practice the quarantine rules in your life.
In today’s main script meeting, the heads of local governments from Incheon, Gangwon, and Jeju will participate together following the last time in Seoul and Gyeonggi. We will prepare creative alternatives by examining the quarantine situation by region in-depth and reviewing various opinions. In the future, we will further strengthen the communication between the center and local sites by using the main script meeting as a central point.
