The quarantine indicators are gradually improving thanks to the participation of many citizens in special measures to strengthen quarantine during the year-end and New Year holidays. Today, the number of confirmed cases decreased to 600 as of 0 o’clock, reaching the lowest level in 23 days. This is an encouraging figure considering the number of inspections of 78,000 or so, even on holidays.

The average daily number of confirmed cases has declined by more than 100 over the past week, and weekend travel is also the lowest in the last two months. The number of critically ill beds that can be used immediately has increased to about 200, and the number of waiting patients for more than a day in the metropolitan area has decreased by more than 10, and the medical system has recovered a lot.

However, there is still a lot of uncertainty as the situation changes every day. I think the next two weeks are the decisive time to achieve a solid stability. Yesterday the government announced social distancing steps and additional quarantine measures to be applied starting this week.

We extended the distance step by two more weeks, but included core measures of special measures for the year-end and New Year holidays, such as banning meetings with more than 5 people, and some quarantine regulations were effectively supplemented. It was decided to extend the temporary screening inspection office in the metropolitan area, where the effect was confirmed, for another two weeks. In today’s script, we will discuss measures to strengthen quarantine in nursing hospitals, where group infections are frequent, and implement them immediately.

This month, we must firmly suppress the momentum of Corona 19, and from next month, we must add the power of treatments and vaccines to lay the groundwork for early overcoming the coronavirus. As you have done well so far, I sincerely ask the people to be patient and take the lead in participating quarantine. The fight against Corona 19, whose spreading power has increased in winter, is ultimately a speed battle. If we go one step ahead, we can sufficiently overwhelm it, and if we fall one step behind, we are dragged.
