When the news that North Korea shot a projectile into the East Sea was reported, the Blue House urgently called a meeting of the NSC, or the National Security Council Standing Committee, presided over by the head of the National Security Office, Seo Hoon.

At the emergency meeting of the NSC Standing Committee, held less than two hours after North Korea’s missile launch, a response plan was discussed after a related report by Chairman Won-cheol Won.

The Blue House said,’The NSC Standing Committee has expressed deep concern over North Korea’s missile launch.’

As with the announcement of the joint venture, it was officially the fact that North Korea shot a missile instead of a projectile.

In particular, he indicated that he was seriously looking at the fact that North Korea had performed armed demonstrations at a time when the new US administration is reviewing its policy toward North Korea.

The NSC explained that it will closely analyze the background and intentions of North Korea’s missile launch with the United States and other related countries and strengthen consultations.

He added that the detailed specifications of the missiles launched this time will be analyzed through close cooperation between the ROK and US defense authorities and intelligence authorities.

It is the first time in one year and five months since October 2019 that the NSC Standing Committee has been held in relation to North Korean launch vehicles.

North Korea’s missile launch is drawing more attention as it is the first armed demonstration since the inauguration of the US administration.

In particular, this issue is expected to be taken seriously at the meeting of the three security offices of the three countries, which is said to be held in the near future.

A senior Blue House official said that President Moon Jae-in is also monitoring related matters, such as receiving reports directly from the head of the security office immediately after North Korea’s missile launch.
