Today (1st) around 8:20 am, the van turned over at the exit of Namsejong Intersection on Dangjin Daejeon Expressway.

Seven of the 12 passengers died, five were injured and taken to the hospital.

Six of the seven dead are Chinese nationals.

The accident took place at the turnway at the exit of the highway called the ramp section.

Police estimate that the accident was caused by speeding driving in the rain.

The road construction CCTV screen showed the accident vehicle entering the exit ramp section of the highway without slowing down.

The speed limit for the ramp section is 50 km/h.

Police estimated that the van slipped over the speed limit on a curved road wet with rain.

It is not clear whether the seat belt is worn.

The driver and the person in the passenger seat were clearly wearing seat belts, police said the rest were unclear.
