Today is exactly one year since the first Corona 19 patient outbreak in Korea.

There was a crisis that came across several times over the course of a year and, at most, three pandemics.

Daegu, where the first pandemic began. Reporter Heo, the foot infection of Shincheonji Church exceeded 5,000 people.

It is in front of Shincheonji Church, which was the center of the first Corona 19 pandemic.

As the church is now closed, assemblies and gatherings are completely banned, so it is truly a calm atmosphere.

On February 18 last year, one of the members of the church was identified as the 31st confirmed case in the country, and then jumped to double digits the next day and three digits four days later.

The number of confirmed cases peaked at 909 one day at the end of February, and more than 5,000 confirmed cases related to Shincheonji occurred nationwide.

With this rapid increase in patients, the medical system was the most problematic.

There are five university hospitals in Daegu, but they have not been able to keep up with the increase in patients, and there have been cases where they died while waiting at home after confirmation.

However, soon the Life Therapy Center was established, and medical personnel across the country volunteered.

The quarantine authorities quickly identified confirmed patients and blocked the spread of infection through various efforts such as intensive diagnostic tests, epidemiological investigations, and introduction of driver-through diagnostic tests.

In addition, strengthened social distancing was initiated for the first time in the Daegu and Gyeongbuk regions, and the voluntary cooperation of citizens was added, and the first pandemic was able to end quickly without spreading to other regions.

However, in this process, Shincheonji’s non-cooperation was a big problem.

In addition to refusing to investigate epidemiological investigations, they interfered with quarantine, such as not properly submitting the list of members.

Daegu City even conducted an administrative investigation to secure a list of congregation members, and is in the process of claiming 100 billion damages against the Shincheonji Church.
