The current evolution rate is found to have exceeded 90%.

Forest officials say the main Buddha will soon be extinguished.

The fire in the national forest in Yeoryang-myeon, Jeongseon-gun, Gangwon-do, was about 3:50 pm yesterday.

The fire, which is believed to have started near the houses under the mountain, spread through strong winds of more than 5 meters per second.

However, due to the harsh mountain conditions, evolution suffered.

As the day got dark and the helicopter withdrew, the forest authorities set up a fire line to prevent the fire from spreading to private homes overnight.

There are about 10 households living at the bottom of the mountain, but there was no injury or damage to the house.

Until now, the forest has been tentatively counted as having burnt an area of 120,000 square meters and more than 16 soccer fields.
