[전국]S-OIL oil pipeline spills 8,000 liters of crude oil…Marine and emergency control work

[앵커]

Crude oil spilled into the sea when the onshore pipeline of the S-Oil Ulsan Plant was damaged.

The fire department and the coastal police have initiated an emergency response, but there is a concern about marine pollution.

Oil control work is in full swing on a small porthole.

Oil fences are installed in layers to prevent oil from spreading to the sea outside the port, and sea police, fire fighting, and private firefighters remove oil with non-woven fabrics.

The accident occurred when the underground pipeline of S-Oil Ulsan Plant, located 500m from the port, was damaged.

The oil pipeline is 106cm in diameter from which oil is sent from a crude oil ship to the refinery.

The amount of crude oil spilled from the damaged pipeline is about 50 barrels and 8,000 liters.

The new crude oil from the pipeline flowed into the port through the nearby rainwater pipeline, and the leakage of crude oil stopped while blocking the damaged area within 13 hours.

Rapid control has largely prevented the spread of the sea, but oil contamination is inevitable.

Coastal and environmental authorities are investigating the cause of the accident and whether it is contaminated.

In January, S-OIL also had a crude oil spill from a buoy at an offshore loading and unloading facility.
