The prosecution’s investigation into the suspicion of the early closure of Wolseong Nuclear Power Plant Unit 1 has entered the stage of investigation.

After the prosecution handed over officials from the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy to trial, it is known that the summons investigation was notified to former Minister Baek Un-gyu, who was in charge of decision-making at the time.

Last month, the prosecution handed over three government officials at the level of the department and manager of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy to trial on charges of deleting or engaging in materials related to the Wolseong nuclear power plant.

It is known that the prosecution, who was conducting further investigations, recently informed the former Minister of Industry, Baek Woon-gyu, to come and seek investigation.

The summons schedule is being adjusted, but next week is said to be influential.

Earlier, the Board of Audit and Inspection said that in April 2018, former Minister Baek decided to immediately shut down Wolseong Nuclear Power Plant Unit 1 before the results of an external agency’s economic evaluation came out.

In addition, in the audit report, it stated that’the President asked when he plans to decide on the permanent shutdown of the Wolseong nuclear power plant’, and that Minister Baek rebuked and ordered a review of the current status and plans of the early shutdown of the Wolseong nuclear power plant. I did.

Therefore, it is inevitable to investigate whether there was any involvement of the Blue House in this process and whether the authority was abused due to an order to destroy nuclear power plants.

It is reported that the Daejeon District Prosecutor’s Office summoned and investigated the former vice president of Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power and the former head of the headquarters, who are the key people involved in the suspicion of manipulating the economic feasibility evaluation.

After the investigation of former Minister Baek, it is expected to lead to the summons of Korea Gas Corporation President Chae Hee-bong and Jeong Jae-hoon, President Han Su-won, who were then secretary for industrial policy at the Blue House.

But the prosecution said it was difficult to confirm the target and date of the summons.

As Justice Minister Choo Mi-ae delivered the last review of his term as a prosecutor, the investigation team’s prosecutors were slightly replaced, and the prosecution’s investigation network is gradually approaching the Blue House.
