At Hankook Tire’s Daejeon Plant, a worker who was in serious condition after being injured by a tire molding facility died after 17 days.

Since then, the Ministry of Employment and Labor conducted special supervision at Hankook Tire’s Daejeon Plant and Geumsan Plant, claiming that a serious disaster occurred.

As a result, it was revealed that workers had been working in dangerous environments.

Basically, there was a risk of getting caught in a facility that rotates at a high speed without a protective cover installed.

In an emergency, the device to stop the conveyor was not working or installed, and the management of various equipment and lighting facilities was a mess.

699 cases of violations of the Occupational Safety and Health Act were confirmed at two factories in Daejeon and Geumsan.

For nearly 500 of these cases, the person in charge and the corporation were criminally charged.

We plan to impose a fine of 390 million won for other violations, such as failure to conduct special safety and health education.

The Hankook Tire branch of the metals union insisted that the special supervision was poorly conducted as some supervisors were excluded from the participation of workers.

In addition, after the death of a worker at the Geumsan Plant three years ago, a dedicated organization was established that participated in the worker, the company, and the Ministry of Labor, but he emphasized that the death accident occurred again due to formal operation.
