[전국]Gwangmyeong and Siheung officials confirm the purchase of land in the new city… speculative investigation

The city’s self-investigation revealed that 6 government officials in Gwangmyeong-si, Gyeonggi-do, and 8 public officials in Siheung-si, bought the land in the planned Gwangmyeong and Siheung new cities.

The authorities plan to severely punish and expand the scope of investigation if any illegal or speculative activity is revealed in the process of land transaction.

It turned out that there were five more Gwangmyeong City Hall officials who bought the land in Gwangmyeong and Siheung, Gyeonggi Province, in addition to the already known level 6 employees.

There are 2 people in the 5th class, the manager of the city hall, and 2 people in the 6th class and 1 in the 8th class, respectively.

The land they bought is about 3,700 square meters.

Forest fields, fields, land, etc., and were purchased in 2015, 2016, 2019, and last year respectively.

Among these, it has been confirmed that the known 6th-level employees have illegally transformed the land.

The misconduct of the remaining five people has not yet been revealed, but the city is investigating whether the information was used for business purposes.

After surveying over 1,300 employees of the city hall, Gwangmyeong City will continue to investigate the staff of Gwangmyeong City Corporation and the urban development project district of the Gwangmyeong Cultural Complex.

Eight officials from Siheung City Hall were also found to own land in the area.

The city explained that, as a result of the recent voluntary declaration, seven people bought or inherited the land between 1980 and 2016, and that no unusual matters were found that could be suspicious of speculation.

In addition, one 5th-level employee purchased 1 parcel through an auction in October last year.

Siheung City will continue to conduct self-investigation and voluntary reporting to check whether it is illegal or not.
