This year’s Jeju 4·3 victim memorial ceremony is a more meaningful day for bereaved families and residents than ever.

This is because it is the first commemorative day after the amendment of the 4·3 Special Act, and it is the first day to take the first step toward a complete resolution of Jeju 4·3.

‘The dome is in full bloom.’

It contains the meaning that warm spring has come to the first memorial service since the 4·3 special law amendment.

[문재인 / 대통령 : 추가 진상규명과 피해자의 명예 회복, 국가폭력에 의한 희생자 지원 방안을 담았습니다. 특별법 개정으로 이제 4·3은 자기 모습을 되찾게 되었습니다.]

Therefore, this memorial ceremony is special for the 4·3 surviving victims and their bereaved families who have been struggling through the years.

[오임종 / 제주 4·3 유족회장 : 70여 년 전 억울하게 돌아가신 영령님들을 제대로 해원할 수 있는 길이 열렸다는 의미에서 이번 추념식은 남다릅니다.]

The bereaved families were blessed with resentment and resentment every year on April 3rd, but now they have a little less burden on their hearts.

[강경환 / 행방불명 희생자 유족 : 집에 들어가도 편안한 마음으로 자고 아버지도 편안히 잘 주무시라고 인사를 드렸습니다.]

I sincerely hope that through the revised special law, we can inform our descendants of the correct history of the 4·3.

More than 2,000 victims who are missing are waiting for their honor to be restored due to the revision of the special law.

The surviving victims and their families who have watched this memorial service are looking forward to a truly warm spring day through the April 3 Special Act, which will be enforced in June.
