A helicopter mobilized to rescue his 50s who had collapsed from a myocardial infarction, but was unable to burn it and eventually died.

It was because of concerns about corona infection.

A, who lives in Hongcheon, Gangwon-do, left her husband on December 16 last year.

The death of her husband in her 50s was acute myocardial infarction,

My husband lost consciousness at the Hongcheon Regional Hospital he visited.

I had symptoms of ventricular fibrillation, where my heart could not contract properly, and I had to move to a larger hospital as soon as possible.

Just in time, a doctor helicopter waiting at Wonju Severance Hospital departed.

I could get there within 10 minutes by helicopter, but I couldn’t land and went back.

[A 씨 : (닥터헬기가) 금방 떠서 금방 날아가서 치료될 거라는 희망을 품고 있었는데, 어느 순간 다시 전화가 와서 안 된다고, 안된다고 하시는 거예요.]

I drove 40 minutes by ambulance to Wonju Hospital, but my husband died.

The reason the helicopter returned was due to the symptoms of dyspnea accompanying acute myocardial infarction.

[A 씨 : 의료진의 안전상 코로나에 조금이라도 노출되면 안 되기 때문에 어떠한 환자라도 코로나 관련 증상이 조금이라도 보이면 전혀 태울 수가 없다는 거예요.]

The hospital said the agency that manages doctor helicopters nationwide is the National Medical Center.

[원주 세브란스 병원 관계자 : 국립중앙의료원이에요. 거기서 지침을 내려주면 닥터헬기팀은 그렇게 운영할 수밖에 없어요.]

The medical center said that there are no separate instructions for operating doctor helicopters related to Corona 19, and that the on-site medical staff will judge and operate them.

[국립중앙의료원 관계자 : 닥터헬기는 코로나 환자를 이송할 수 없다는 지침은 만들 수도 없고 그래서도 안 되는 거고, 그리고 또 닥터헬기 지침이라는 건요. 현장 상황이 더 중요하고 현장의 의료진들이나 비행진이 (판단합니다.)]

Mr. A does not blame the hospital and medical staff.

However, he said that it was too much judgment to see dyspnea caused by myocardial infarction as a symptom of suspected coronavirus.

[A 씨 : 의료진의 노력과 애쓰시는 모습 지금 일 년째 너무 감사하게 여기고 있어요. 이해는 하지만 조금이라도 의심증상이 있으면 지금처럼 분명히 바로 앞, 직전까지 왔다가 돌아가는 일이 생기는 건 너무 억울하잖아요.]

And in the countryside where there are no big hospitals, I wished that this regret would never happen again.

[A 씨 : (아이들) 아빠 같은 사례가 일어나지 않기를 바라요. 특히나 이런 대형 상급병원이 없는 지역에, 의료 소외지역의 사람들에게 이런 일이 발생하지 않았으면 좋겠어요.]
