[전국]Child abuse 1 year… victims still suffer

Do you remember the case of child abuse at a national and public daycare center in Jung-gu, Ulsan, revealed through the media in June?

The case has been investigated by the police and is currently being tried.

Reporter Dong-young Kim of JCN in Ulsan met the victims.

A national and public daycare center in Ulsan.

In the midst of children playing with a styrofoam ball, a nursery teacher nervously throws a ball at a child.

Even after that, the ball flies several times over the child’s head even after it was taken in minutes.

On another day, when the child swings his hand at the nursery teacher, he forcibly grabs the child’s hand and forces him to hit the head.

The case of child abuse at a national and public daycare center in Jung-gu, which occurred last year and was only known to the world in June of this year.

The victims are still experiencing abnormal symptoms and are undergoing psychological treatment, even for the first year since the abuse occurred.

[피해 아동 학부모 : 한번씩 영상에 나왔던 선생님 행동을 그대로 또 따라 해서…벽을 치거나 자기 머리를 때릴 때가 있거든요.]

The teacher was admitted to some charges in a police investigation, and the trial is currently underway.

Meanwhile, the families of the victims had to go through days of suffering.

Even though it happened at a national or public daycare center, the local governments were passive in relieving the damage, saying they had to wait for the outcome of the trial.

[피해 아동 학부모 : 피해 정황을 확인하기 위해서 전화를 하거나 면담 요청한 적도 없고 경찰한테도 연락을 안 해보고, 그럼 내용을 어떻게 알고 있냐고 하니 원장에게 듣고 있다는 거예요. 당시 원장은 가해자로 경찰 조사 중이었거든요.]

Basic psychological counseling for victims was also lacking.

[피해 아동 학부모 : (지원하는 심리치료가) 고작 3회로 끝난다는 게 너무 이해가 안 되고 부족하단 생각이 들어서 우리 아이들 심리치료는 더 지원이 되냐, 어떻게 하냐 하니 ‘그건 할 수 없다. 가해자한테 민사 소송을 해서 받을 수밖에 없다’고 하는 거예요. 다른 어머니 같은 경우는 한 달에 100만 원 정도 들여서까지 심리치료를 받고 있고…]

In the end, parents had to deal with most problems themselves, from reporting child abuse to psychological treatment.

Despite these complaints, the local government is in the position that the related matters were handled according to procedures.

He drew a line that the psychological counseling part of the victims was conducted exclusively by specialized children’s organizations.

One year after the occurrence of child abuse, the wounds of the victims are deepening amid insufficient coping by the local government.
