This is because land transactions increased before the candidate site was selected and the number of prefabricated houses increased suddenly.

Buildings made of prefab panels stand out throughout the town.

They are gathered at the bottom of the mountain and adjacent to the barn.

I could see traces of people living, but I couldn’t feel the popularity wherever I went.

Residents said the number of prefabricated buildings had increased suddenly right before the announcement of the candidate site.

[A씨 / 마을주민 : 이게 다 외지사람들이 산 거야. (평당) 80만 원씩, 100만 원씩 이렇게 주고 사는 거예요. 갑자기 땅 사고 집을 한 해에 다 지은 거예요.]

In fact, when I looked at the registered copy of a building, it was built in June 2018.

It is two months ahead of the government’s announcement of candidate sites for industrial complexes.

The suspicion of speculation aimed at various compensations, such as confirming the farmland with abundant seedlings, has continued for nearly three years.

[B씨 / 마을주민 : 저녁에 와서 불을 켜놓고 아침에 다시 와서 불을 끄고 이런 사람도 있거든요. 공무원하고도 연관되어 있다고도 이야기 들었고….]

[C씨 / 마을 주민 : 산업단지가 들어오면 이주자 딱지 같은 것을 받는다고 그런 이야기를 들었어요. 그런 목적으로 지은 게 아닌가 생각하는 거죠.]

Eventually, Sejong City started its own investigation, and the Sejong Police Agency started an internal investigation.

However, as large-scale new town development has been underway in the Sejong area for a long period of time, public opinion is rising that a joint investigation by the government is necessary.
