During the first pandemic of Corona 19 last year, the Shincheonji Daegu Church executives who were handed over to trial for interfering with the epidemiological investigation by deliberately omitting the list of members were also acquitted.

This is the second time after last month’s acquittal of General Chairman Lee Man-hee, Shincheonji, who was accused of interfering with epidemiological investigations.

Yes, a few days ago,’not guilty’ was convicted at a sentence of 8 people including Choi Mo, the tribe leader of Shincheonji Daegu Church.

Choi and others were handed over to trial for violating the Infectious Disease Prevention Act because they did not deliberately submit part of the list of congregation members, and obstructing the execution of public affairs through hierarchies.

The Justice Department saw that it was not an epidemiological investigation that the quarantine authorities required to submit a list of congregations was a preparatory stage for an epidemiological investigation.

As such, he said that it is difficult to say that the infectious disease prevention method was violated just by submitting the missing list.

He also said that the request for the submission of the list was nothing more than a request for information, and that not responding to this request was difficult to view as a hindrance to the execution of public affairs.

Previously, the city of Daegu demanded that the entire member list be submitted to the Shincheonji Daegu Church on February 20, last year, when Corona 19 was spreading.

Accordingly, Choi and others were indicted in July of last year for deliberately omitting and submitting the list of over 130 members who are reluctant to disclose their identities.

The prosecution imprisoned eight executives, including three years in prison for Choi, the chief of the Daegu Church, and two years in prison for Baek Mo, the head of the planning department.

Earlier, on the 13th of last month, the Suwon District Court also acquitted General Chairman Lee Man-hee, Shincheonji, who was accused of interfering with quarantine activities.

The results of this criminal trial against the executives of Shincheonji Daegu Church are expected to affect the lawsuit for damages of KRW 100 billion that Daegu City separately filed with Shincheonji Daegu Church.
