[전국]“AI preventive sunk disposal regulations should be relaxed”

There are more than 26 million poultry all over the country that have been buried by AI and avian influenza this winter.

In this regard, Gyeonggi Province has submitted a proposal to the government to ease the regulations on preventive disposal around AI-prone farms.

A farm that has raised 37,000 chickens and produced eggs using eco-friendly farming methods since 1984.

No AI has ever occurred.

However, at the end of last year, Hwaseong City announced that it was within a 3km radius of the AI-prone farm and asked to dispose of all chickens.

The farm side, who refused to do so, filed an administrative trial in Gyeonggi-do and was recently suspended from execution of the burial disposition.

In the midst of this, Gyeonggi-do has proposed easing the disposal regulations to the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs.

First of all, the range of preventive burial disposal should be relaxed from the current’within 3km radius of the occurrence farm’ to’within 500m’, and for farms within 500m~3km, consider the topography.

Some say that eco-friendly farms such as animal welfare farms should be excluded from preventive slaughter.

Like foot-and-mouth disease, it also revealed that some poultry such as laying hens, breeders, and natural monuments need to be vaccinated.

As the current quarantine management system is properly equipped, it is necessary to consider the ripple effects of the industry.

As the livestock industry and environmental organizations have argued that the current disposition regulations should be reconsidered, it is noteworthy whether the Gyeonggi-do proposal will be accepted.
