A hearing was held in Busan District Court yesterday on a request for temporary injunction to suspend the execution of administrative orders issued by the Busan Seegero Church and the Western Church, which received an order to close facilities.

The two churches argued that the Busan city quarantine guidelines, which enforce non-face-to-face worship at all churches because some churches have been confirmed, violates the freedom of religion set by the Constitution and insist that the closing order should be stopped.

In particular, he stressed that the church is strictly following quarantine rules such as wearing a mask and keeping distance. While multi-use facilities such as restaurants are allowed to operate, he stressed that quarantine rules that only churches do not allow are unfair.

It was also argued that among the congregation, it was difficult for the elderly to attend non-face-to-face worship.

Online worship services such as YouTube are not easy because the use of computers or mobile devices is poor or the access method is not adequate.

The church side is in a position to temporarily suspend the administrative order of the local government and judge the legitimacy of the quarantine regulations through a formal lawsuit.

It seems that the quarantine system may be shaken. What is the local government’s position?

Busan City, Gangseo-gu, and Seo-gu countered the church’s claim that the quarantine regulations were wrong.

The legal representatives of municipalities in court emphasized the importance of quarantine regulations.

If a large number of church members gather together to worship together, the risk of infection increases, and if many churches abide by the rules of worship well, stopping the executive order could result in the collapse of the quarantine guidelines.

Representatives of local governments asked the court to keep the quarantine watch, saying that the administrative disposition of the church is for public welfare to protect the lives and bodies of the people.

The Judiciary continues today, the day after the hearing, saying that the matter is important and there are many things to review.

At the judgment of the judiciary, quarantine rules for religious facilities may be shaken, so the results are drawing attention.

The judgment of the judges is expected to come out as early as this afternoon.
