[자막뉴스] The whole city… China’s super strong measures

On the 7th, the Chinese government first implemented a city blockade in Shijiazhuang.

Highways, train stations, intercity bus terminals, and other routes that can be carried to and from Shijiazhuang City have been blocked and isolated from the outside.

What came out after the city blockade was the’Gem Jok Spirit’.

It’s been a week, but in principle, the residents’ feet were tied up.

It also stopped the subway operation at all.

The government explained that it was a measure to increase the effectiveness of quarantine after completing the diagnostic tests for all residents.

Like Shijiazhuang, nearby Xingtai City has banned all residents from going out.

The resident population alone is 11 million in Shijiazhuang City and 7.4 million in Xingtai City, and the population of the two regions is 18 million.

It is the second time after Wuhan that the Chinese government has blocked a whole city with a population of more than 10 million.

Hebei provincial deputy chief Xu Jianfei said all villages and complexes in Shijiazhuang and Xingtai Nanguang are closed and managed.

Authorities in these regions define the status as a literal’exhibition situation’.

It is inevitable that both cities and the capital Beijing are close by.

Since Hebei Province surrounds the capital Beijing, there is a great sense of crisis that if local infections are not caught in time, even the capital will be at risk.

Last week, the cumulative number of Corona 19 patients in Shijiazhuang exceeded 300.

Looking at the number of new cases that occurred on the 8th, the total number of confirmed cases in mainland China is 17, of which 14 came from Hebei.

However, China is predicting that the upcoming Spring Festival will be a turning point to test the government’s response to quarantine.

Local governments are recommending that local residents refrain from moving during the Lunar New Year holidays so that the area and scale of the outbreak do not expand.
