A 23-year-old woman who left the UK on the 14th of last month and entered Shanghai, China, has been confirmed to be infected with a mutant virus from the UK.

The leading US newspaper The New York Times (NYT) reported that the number of countries with mutant viruses from the UK increased to 33.

The UK reported for the first time on the 14th of last month a case of the COVID-19 mutant virus to the World Health Organization, WHO.

This mutant virus was named B 1.1.7.

Since it was first identified, the virus has spread to more than 30 countries within just 15 days.

It is rapidly spreading all over the world, including North and South America, Europe, and Asia and the Middle East.

In particular, in the UK, most of the recent new confirmed cases have been infected with the mutant virus, and in some countries, including the United States, it is observed that the mutant virus has entered the community infection stage.

The British mutant virus does not cause more serious symptoms than the existing virus, but it is analyzed that it has a stronger transmission power of 50-70%.

Health experts are concerned that the rapid increase in confirmed cases will be even steeper due to the strong transmission power of the mutant virus.

Corona 19 was first officially reported to the World Health Organization on December 31, 2019, and 17 mutations have been reported in one year.

Pfizer, Modena, and AstraZeneca, who developed the vaccine, have undertaken a study to verify the efficacy of the vaccine against the recently raging UK mutant virus.

If relevant data is collected and research is conducted in the next 2-3 weeks, it is expected that the results of verification of the effectiveness of the already developed vaccine against mutant viruses will emerge.
