[인터뷰]’Seungri-ho’ Song Joong-ki “Shinpa, likes and dislikes? Cho Sung-hee’s style instinctively attracted” (General)

[아시아경제 이이슬 기자] Actor Song Joong-gi said he wants to join the next movie with director Jo Sung-hee.

Song Joong-ki told the story of the movie’Seungri-ho’ (director Jo Sung-hee) in a video interview held on the morning of the 9th.

‘Seungri-ho’ tells the story of the crew of the space garbage scavenger Seung-ho in 2092, after discovering Dorothy, a humanoid robot known as a weapon of mass destruction, into a dangerous trade. Song Joong-gi plays Tae-ho, a pilot who does anything that makes money.

It is a space sci-fi blockbuster directed by Cho Sung-hee, who directed’The Wolf Boy’,’Detective Hong Gil-dong: The Lost Village’,’The End of the Beast’, and the short’Sister’s House’.

‘Seungriho’ was released through the OTT platform Netflix after acting in the aftermath of Corona 19 (a novel coronavirus infection), although the theater was in mind. Song Joong-ki asked, “It is said that it was ranked #1 in the world in the streaming rankings, but is it really our movie story?” I felt good when I received a text message saying that I saw it in England, Colombia and Hong Kong.”

‘Seungriho’, which was released in the bedroom, is dominated by the reaction that the space battle scene that poured out enormous VFX (special effects) was impressive. Some responded that it was regrettable that they could not see it in the theater.

Song Joong-gi said, “Have the times changed? “There is no personal regret.” “I saw the verification shot that you posted on SNS saying you were watching chicken. Also, my nephews sent me a verification shot. Are there any pros and cons? I am grateful that it can be released in times of confusion.”

Song Joong-ki, who reunited with Director Jo Sung-hee 8 years after’The Wolf Boy’ (2012), said, “The director has been preparing the project by revising the scenario for 10 years. When I first heard the story on set, it was a very different version from now. Specifically, I remember receiving a casting offer a year and a half ago. “Taeho’s age range changed and sailors were created through the revision of the scenario.”

“When the director and the production company’s representative sent a text message that the script had been sent, I already made up my mind to appear. There was great faith in the film company and director Cho Sung-hee. After reading the script, I was convinced. There wasn’t much need to talk about when I went into filming. It feels like it’s been a long time together. However, because the director is so embarrassed, I helped communicate with other actors. I acted like an interpreter.”

Song Joong-ki said, “If the outside and the inside are different, I think it will be bitter, and I will not change.” “I still think that the appearance of Cheol-soo during the’Wolf Boy’ is Director Sung-hee Cho. It’s been a while since I’ve seen it, but it’s still silent and naive.”

He and director Jo Sung-hee worked on the two works in a row and built a solid trust. When asked if they would be together again, “Of course. If the director doesn’t get bored with me (laughs), maybe because he likes the emotion he has, he tends to be attracted to his story. Whether it’s a short story or any genre, his story contains the keyword family. That instinctively fits me and likes me.”

When asked if there was any burden on showing it as the first SF movie in Korea, Song Joong-gi replied, “There was no such thing.” “The genre doesn’t matter when choosing a work. I wanted to try it because I had a desire to do various genres. There are people around me who are worried about choosing works boldly, but I am only attracted to them.”

He said, “Some people say that they only choose the work that they have a hard time with, and they say it is a pervert. I do it because I am attracted, and I have a lot of genre greedy. When I decided to appear in the movie’Bogota’, it was a reaction to go far and shoot.”

Regarding the feelings of paternal love, “I wondered how to express the feelings I had never felt, and how the public would accept them. When I went into the filming, I had a conversation with Hae Jin Hae, Sun Gyu Jin, and Tae Ri Kim, and I felt that something was resolved. I came to the conclusion that it was a stagnant character and not changed. In a cinematic way, Taeho’s narrative is expressed in a short montage, so I thought about how to convey it in a short time.”

Responding to some reactions that the likes and dislikes of the new wave code in’Seungri-ho’, Song Joong-ki said, “I saw an article saying that I am sorry or good. When I show my work, I try to listen more because various reactions come out.” “That’s like the color of Director Cho Sung-hee. I like that style, so I chose the work. I am personally satisfied.”

Song Joong-gi expressed his special affection, saying, “I was most open while filming,” as “Seungri-ho” Captain Kim Tae-ri, Jin Seon-gyu, and Eop-dong worked together with Hae Jin Hae-jin. He said, “I was like that from the day I first met, and rather, I got so close that I was spiteful. I had faith that another actor would fill my shortcomings.”

He said, “Even though the job-dong was not in the role of breathing in the field, Yu Hae-jin came out and gave a dialogue. There are a lot of things that were made while working together. In that sense, I was centered on it,” he recalled.

Song Joong-gi said, “After seeing the scenario, the word “desperation” came to my mind at the production report on’Seungri-ho.’ He started out as a stagnant character with everything in his life laid down. During the filming, it was similar to the actual state of mind of Song Joong-ki.”

Regarding this, “Literally, that’s all I said. It was at that time when I used the word’desperation’. “I want to tell you in detail, but because I am a personal person. I want to leave the beauty of the white space.”
