[인터뷰②] Ok Ja-yeon “A graduate of the aesthetics department at Seoul National University, I will not bother my alma mater”

(Continued from Interview ①) One of the modifiers attached to actor Ok Ja-yeon (33) is’Omchin Daughter’. He graduated from Seoul National University Department of Aesthetics.

After all, why did he dream of becoming an actor?

Ok Ja-yeon said, “When I graduated from college, I decided to act. I loved watching movies and plays. I watched plays two or three a week and collected tickets. Even in high school, I was in a theater class, but at that time I couldn’t think of myself as acting. Since I studied well, I just naturally accepted life that others could expect. “I was influenced by a good play and made me dream of becoming an actor.”

From Seoul National University’s aesthetic department, there is Bang Si-hyuk, CEO of Big Hit Entertainment. He is praised as the’best output’ from Seoul National University’s aesthetics department, such as giving a congratulatory speech at the 2019 Seoul National University graduation ceremony. Ok Ja-yeon is from Seoul National University’s aesthetics department, and has been named side by side with CEO Bang Si-hyuk.

Ok Ja-yeon said, “When I was in school, I didn’t know that Producer Bang Si-hyuk was an alumni. I knew it only later,” he said. “I’m just beginning. I didn’t know it would be mentioned together. I will live so as not to bother my alma mater.”

It is Ok Ja-yeon, who said he did not miss the first place in the whole school when he was in school. Wasn’t there any opposition from my parents when I offered to act?

Ok Ja-yeon said, “My mother was worried a lot. He said, “I like that one, so how about doing something like PD?” However, I couldn’t give up because I wanted to act too much. On the other hand, my father did not object. He is a person who believes in’do what you want to do’. He said, “I heard a lot of things around my parents,’Shave your hair and lock it up at home’ and’Why do you leave it still?’ But my parents gave me more strength than anyone else. Thank you so much I am proud of myself.”

Ok Ja-yeon debuted in a play in 2012 and has already become an actor for 10 years. He said, “Time is harsh,” he said. “I never wanted to give up an actor. I thought I would continue. When it was hard to live because I didn’t have money, I thought that I didn’t think about real things too much. In fact, people came to Seoul National University, but I think they had great determination or gave up something great and started acting, but they did what they wanted to do. I’m still good at acting, so I will continue to do it in the future.”

Ok Ja-eon decided on the next work early following OCN’s’Wonderful Rumors’. That is tvN’s new drama’Mine’. He said, “I meet Bo-young Lee and Seo-hyung Kim in’Mine’. I’m so excited. Both of them are actors who are very good at acting and love them too much. I always meet only good people.”

Finally, to the question of what kind of actor Ok Ja-yeon wants to become, he replied, “I wish it would be a curious person.” He said, “I want to be an interesting person, an actor who does not seem obvious. I want to act where people see my acting and feel’you really like acting’. I always have fun and work, and I hope the people who see it feel good.”
