[올잇뉴스] Electric vehicle subsidy overhauled after 8 years Who is not eligible for support?

The government has completely reorganized its EV subsidy policy. It has been eight years since electric vehicles began to be distributed to the private sector.

If you buy an electric car this year, you will receive up to 19 million won from the government and local governments, and 37.5 million won for hydrogen cars as subsidies. In addition, EVs that cost more than 90 million won are excluded from support.

On the 21st, the Ministry of Strategy and Finance, the Ministry of Environment and the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy announced a plan to reform the subsidy system in 2021.

The government plans to supply 136,000 eco-friendly vehicles this year, including 121,000 electric vehicles and 15,000 hydrogen electric vehicles. Electric vehicles increased by 21.4% compared to last year and hydrogen vehicles increased by 49.2%. The support budget has also increased to 1.23 trillion won and 3655 billion won, respectively.

In addition, in order to provide a convenient charging environment for electric and hydrogen vehicle users, it will build 31500 electric vehicle chargers (1500 rapid, 30,000 slow) and 54 hydrogen charging stations (25 general, 21 special, 8 expansion). He said it was a plan.

The government has completely reorganized its EV subsidy policy. It has been eight years since electric vehicles began to be distributed to the private sector.

Amid rising investments for the spread of electric vehicles, subsidies for high-priced electric vehicles exceeding 90 million won will be stopped.

In order to increase the government’s popular distribution model, the standards for subsidies are differentiated for each section. Accordingly, the subsidy is provided in full to vehicles under 60 million won, while 50% of the subsidy is provided for vehicles under 60 million to 90 million won, and the subsidy is not provided for vehicles over 90 million won.

According to the reorganization, among passenger cars, government subsidies for Hyundai’s Kona (PTC and HP) and Kia’s Niro (HP) are the highest at 8 million won. If you add subsidies to local governments, you can receive up to 19 million won.

The government subsidy for the hydrogen car Nexo is 22.5 million won, which increases to 37.5 million won when local government subsidies are combined.

On the other hand, in the case of Tesla, the number one electric car sales in Korea, this reorganization is expected to give a red light to sales.

◇Domestic electric car sales No. 1 Tesla direct hit… Interested in price adjustment to less than 60 million won

In the case of Tesla Model 3 Long Range (64.79 million won), which ranked first in sales with 24% of the domestic electric vehicle market share (7039 units), it received a subsidy of 12.5 million won based on the city of Seoul, but this year, only 5.13 million won, a decrease of 7 million won . Accordingly, consumers and industry are drawing attention whether Tesla will adjust the price of Model 3 to 60 million won or less to increase domestic sales.

In addition, support for commercial vehicles such as taxis, buses, and trucks will be reorganized. It plans to supply 1,000 electric buses this year, 25,000 electric cargoes, and 180 hydrogen buses.

In particular, the subsidy system, which was controversial because it was applied to Chinese electric buses, will be changed. Following the reorganization, electric buses (large) are obligated to pay at least 100 million won.

In the existing subsidy system, up to 300 million won was supported, and the price was pushed to Chinese electric buses, which were traded at around 300 million won. Even though some buses were imported at a price of about 100 million won, they received 300 million won of subsidy, causing market controversy.

It is expected that the market disturbance caused by the extreme price difference will be somewhat resolved due to the occurrence of self-pay due to this reorganization.

In addition, subsidies for micro-cars with high demand for small self-employed and small business owners will be increased from 512 million won to 6 million won, and 10% of the total volume will be allocated to SMEs separately. An additional 2 million won is added to the electric taxi subsidy, so you can receive up to 18 million won in Seoul.

In addition, in order to expand the supply of high-efficiency and high-performance vehicles, the proportion of fuel consumption was increased from 50% to 60% when calculating subsidies, and an additional incentive of up to 300,000 won per vehicle was provided to promote the supply to finished vehicle companies by introducing a low-emission vehicle supply target system. do.

With the universalization of electric vehicles, the government has come up with more realistic support measures for popular distribution rather than unconditional support. More charging facilities and various support are needed so that users can feel more attractive in eco-friendly vehicles such as electric vehicles and hydrogen vehicles.
