He continued his career as a playing coach in Derby County. When Koku left the team, he served as a temporary manager of Derby County, and his performance was pretty good. From the end of November to the beginning of January, he conducted 9 games, running 3 wins, 4 draws and 7 games undefeated.

Derby County recognized Rooney leadership. The owner raised his thumb, leaving Rooney as the official manager, saying, “I’m happy to be appointed as the new manager. I beat Swansea 2-0 and broke through Birmingham City 4-0. Under Rooney’s guidance, I created an atmosphere for a rebound in the second half.”

Rooney was also satisfied with her second football life as a leader. “When I came back to England, I was really amazed at the potential of Derby County.
