Rain of up to 100mm in Gangwon-yeongseo in the metropolitan area for 1-2 days

It will rain or snow all over the country from today (the 1st), which is the third season, to tomorrow. Rainfall of up to 100mm in the metropolitan area and Yeongseo, Gangwon, and heavy snowfall of up to 50cm in Yeongdong, Gangwon is expected.

The Meteorological Administration predicted that it would rain or snow across the country from the 1st to the 2nd due to the influence of the cyclone approaching from the west. Especially, during this period, a lot of rain of up to 100mm in the metropolitan area including Seoul and Gangwon Yeongseo, and heavy snowfall of up to 50cm or more in Yeongdong, Gangwon-do is expected, so special attention is needed.

The Meteorological Administration said, “In the daytime, rain clouds develop strongly due to the large amount of water vapor flowing in from the south, and a lot of rain with thunder, lightning and gusts will fall in the metropolitan area, Gangwon-do, and northern Chungbuk.”

Estimated precipitation by region for the first to two days is 30-80mm in the metropolitan area, Gangwon-do, northern Chungbuk, Gyeongbuk (excluding the southern inland), and the east coast of Gyeongnam. It is expected that more than 100mm of rain will come in Gangwon-do, excluding most of the northern part of Gyeonggi and inland southern regions. In the other areas of Chungcheong and southern regions, rain of 10 to 60 mm, Jeju Island (excluding southern and mountainous regions), 5 islands in the West Sea, and 10 to 40 mm in Ulleungdo and Dokdo are expected.

It is expected that there will be a lot of snow that is up to 50cm or more around Gangwon-do. Clouds accompanied by strong precipitation from the day of the 1st to the afternoon of the 2nd move to the east. There is also a high possibility of heavy snow news.

The estimated snowfall from the 1st to the 2nd is 10~40cm in Yeongdong, Gangwon (more than 50cm in many places), and 5~15cm in the mountains of Yeongseo, Gangwon (excluding inland south) and northeastern Gyeongbuk. The Meteorological Administration predicted that there will be 3~8cm of rain in the northern part of Gyeonggi Province, the eastern part of Gyeonggi Province, the southern inland of Gangwon Yeongseo, the inland and east coast of North Gyeongsang Province, and 1 to 5cm in the northern part of North Chungcheong Province.

Strong winds and storms are also expected. It is expected that a very strong wind with a maximum instantaneous wind speed of 75 km/h (20 cm/sec) will blow around the east coast of the Gyeongsang area from the morning of the 2nd to the afternoon when cold air flows from the west.

In the case of a storm, the waves in the west and east seas increase in the afternoon of the 1st, and it is expected that the waves will be as high as 5m or more until the 2nd in the west and the 3rd in the east sea. Specifically, waves will rise from 1.0 to 4.0 m off the east sea on the 1st, 0.5 to 2.0 m off the west sea, and 0.5 to 3.0 m off the south sea. The wave height of the far sea is expected to be 1.0 to 5.0 m in the east sea, 1.0 to 4.0 m in the west sea, and 1.0 to 3.5 m in the south sea.

Meanwhile, the lowest temperature in the morning of the 1st is 2-12 degrees Celsius and the highest temperature in the daytime is 6-17 degrees Celsius. The fine dust concentration will show good levels in all regions.
