With the end of the lineup of candidates for the 4-7 Busan mayoral by-election, which is creating an unprecedented tumult, the opposition parties have entered a full-fledged contest. The 〈Busan Ilbo〉 prepared a ‘direct interview’ where he listens to the vision and determination of the opposition candidates and pricks the painful area to help citizens make the right choice. The interview video can also be viewed through the Busan Ilbo YouTube channel.

Former Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Kim Young-chun, a prominent candidate for the passport in the Busan Mayor’s by-election on April 7, is known as a’politician with a reasonable personality, careful in everything and strong self-sacrifice. Some say that his political style, which emphasizes justification for not running for the two mayoral elections in 2014 and 2018, has intertwined himself. If he did not face left and right and showed a firmer will of power, there might not have been a by-election today.

If you go to Busan for 10 years,

Decision to change the fate of Busan, including new airports

Candidate Kim said in an interview with the 〈Busan Ilbo〉, “I am a politician of determination and action. When I felt a mission or responsibility, I never hesitated or hesitated. To overcome regionalism, everyone said they were crazy people when they abandon the re-election districts in Seoul and return to Busan to commit themselves.” “When this election becomes a political election, the future of Busan is dark. Not just a hard-working election, but to change the fate of Kim Young-chun and Busan, I will throw out all the dreams and visions of the 10th year and hold the election of the soul.”

Regarding the electoral landscape that flows with the opposition dominant aspect, Candidate Kim said that he would not be willing to win or to consider the next election. He lowered his head again, saying, “I am very sorry to the victims and the citizens of Busan because this election was held by the mayor of our party.” Still, he said, “If 10 more years pass as it is, only chaff remains in Busan, but it cannot be seen. For the next year in office, the government must make important decisions that will change the fate of Busan, such as Gaduk New Airport. Because of those things, I decided to run and decided to take up the commission.”

Candidate Kim was confident that he had concrete plans and blueprints while presenting his vision to conquer Busan to Singapore in Northeast Asia. The first step was the construction of Gadeok New Airport. He proposed the first pledge of’the market to open the first shovel at Gaduk New Airport’ and is literally going all-in to the new airport enough to attach his hodo as’Gadeok’. Candidate Kim said, “In Northeast Asia, like Singapore in Southeast Asia, Busan is a geopolitical hub. If Busan conducts global business based on the united economies of scale as a mega city with land, sea, and air infrastructure such as Busan New Port, Gadeok New Airport, and a connected railroad network, the eight million population of Boulgyeong as a mega city, Busan can fly to Singapore in Northeast Asia. In order to actively promote the redevelopment of the North Port and the second new port, and to determine our own destiny, we must make Busan a special maritime autonomous city and secure maritime autonomy.”

He energetically said that in order to solve the bulky difficulties in Busan, he must become a mayor who can draw support and cooperation from the ruling party based on his long political and administrative experience and human network.

Candidate Kim said, “The next year awaits significant decisions that will determine the fate of Busan for the next 20 and 30 years. The destiny of Busan can be changed only when the new mayor leads large-scale national projects such as the construction of Gadeok New Airport, the North Port Redevelopment Project to attract the 2030 Busan Expo, the relocation of the 55 supply window, and the rearrangement of railroad facilities within one year’s term of office. When the novice opposition market enters, I will spend the whole year just practicing the market.”

Candidate Kim is also evaluated as being under intensive checks by the mainstream powers of the ‘pronouncement (Moon Jae-in)’ during the Democratic Party’s primary election process. “As there are hundreds of thousands of supporters of the Democratic Party in Busan alone, there are many pro-grandparents and family members, and I think there are more supporters of me among them.”

Regarding candidate Park Hyung-joon, the power of the people, who ranks No. 1 in the approval ratings across the ruling and opposition parties, he evaluated that “because he ran before me and appeared on TV current entertainment programs, citizens would feel like watching a kind of’celebrity’.” . They are also among seniors and juniors in the movement field when they were in Korea University.

He said, “As an administrator, the mayor is a leader who has to lead tens of thousands of civil servants and fly in flight. Candidate Park as a leader has little experience in pulling organizations in the field. The quality of a good scholar or current affair critic is abundant, but it is not suitable for a sense of market. “It is not enough to show the leadership that will make Busan a strong leap forward as a member of the National Assembly, serving as a senior at the Blue House, and as a secretary-general of the National Assembly for 15 years.
