The crackdown on the day came as Suncheon City imposed a so-called daytime alcohol ban to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (Corona 19). It is the first time that Suncheon has banned the sale of alcoholic beverages after the Corona 19 crisis.

Earlier, Mayor Heo Seok said in an emergency statement on the 3rd, “To add reinforced measures to the government’s COVID-19 prevention guidelines, the sale of alcoholic beverages at restaurants from 5 am to 4 pm for two weeks from the 4th to the 17th He said, “It is an executive order to ban lunch alcohol.” This is a quarantine measure that came out when 13 corona19 confirmed cases poured out from the 1st to the 3rd in the Suncheon area.

Suncheon Utjang started in 1928 and is the oldest traditional market in Suncheon, and the 5-day market stands on the 5th and 10th. The owners of the soup restaurant looked at the officials resentfully, saying, “I waited for the market day when I was afraid that a customer might come, but I came out to crack down on alcoholic beverages,” said the government officials.

In addition, the owners of the soup restaurant said, “The crackdown on taverns that used an expedient method without conscience sprang up into the market where the quarantine rules were faithfully followed.” The ban on alcoholic beverages in Suncheon is a kind of extreme drug prescription issued by a bar in Jorye-dong, Suncheon-si, which opened at 5 a.m., taking advantage of an administrative order that restricted the business from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. the next day.

Mr. Han Seong-wook (51), president of Suncheon Utjang Soup Restaurant, said, “We have been following all the quarantine rules to reduce the number of tables and to receive fewer customers and to protect them.” “The sales of alcoholic beverages are more than a fifth of our daily sales. Because there is no such thing, every soup restaurant is empty.”

If a person is caught selling alcohol in violation of an administrative order, a fine of less than 3 million won for the business owner and less than 100,000 won for the customer is imposed. There were no cases of violating the daytime alcohol ban on this day, but orders for alcoholic beverages occurred in various places when alcohol was available at 4pm.

The owner of a soup restaurant said, “4 customers came yesterday at 3:40 pm, but after seeing the notice that alcohol was not available, they waited for a while and ordered alcohol at 4 pm.” “It’s going to hurt.”

An official from Suncheon City said, “I know that the market owners and restaurant owners comply with the quarantine regulations and cooperate in responding to Corona 19, but it was unavoidable to take measures to prevent the spread. We are going to control the intensity of our distance while we look at it.”
