[영상인터뷰] ‘Rolin’, No. 1 Reverse Driving in 4 Years, Brave GirlsㅣBehind Story

(Seoul = News 1) Reporter Park Hye-sung, Reporter Lee Seung-ah = Girl group Brave Girls”Rollin’ has become the protagonist of a new’reverse driving myth’ by running backwards on the music chart after 4 years.

‘Rollin’, which was released in March 2017, recently ran back to the music charts and climbed to No. 1, surprising everyone.

In this interview, the behind-the-scenes stories that the Brave Girls couldn’t tell, such as Yoo Jung’s stingray dance and what happened during the Marine Corps’ consolation performance, were revealed in this interview.

Brave Girls (Minyoung, Yoojung, Eunji, Yuna), who recently conducted an interview with News 1, expressed their gratitude to the audience who supported them, the composer who gave them good songs, and the fans who have been with them so far.

In particular, Bragirls are raising expectations as they plan to show’Rolin’, which was released four years ago, on music broadcasts from next week.

-When you first heard’Rolin’ 4 years ago, what was the reaction of the members?

▶(Yuna) When I first got’Rolin’, it seemed like we would be ranked first. So, after listening to the song, we danced and played according to the guide in the practice room.

-Among the choreography of’Rolin’,’The Stingray Dance’ and’The Scarecrow Dance’ were issues at the time, but I’m curious how it felt when I saw the choreography for the first time.

▶(Yoojung) I thought that using a chair was’innovative’ and new. The stage is also high, and the feeling of being on the chair is a bit like standing on the top, so I thought that it was actually breakthrough… I thought it was a fun dance in the’Rolly, Lolly, Lolly’ part, but unlike I thought, the pelvis was fixed perfectly. It was a dance I couldn’t even imagine that it would be a rocking dance.

-In fact, I think it became a myth of reverse driving thanks to the comments edited with the cross-editing of the’Rolin’ video. Do you have any memorable comments?

▶(Yuna) I saw a lot of comments. I saw it every day, whenever I had time, but the thing that touched me the most was that we weren’t young and our debut was 5 years old. Seeing that, we can also give hope to Gugunga! I think that comment came to me because of this thought.

▶(Yoojung) I saw you commented on the stage video of’I only drive’, but at that time, the sound source of’I only drive’ didn’t work well. But someone said,’Don’t give up, kids.’ I once said that I was really grateful to my social media account, but when I came to the end without giving up, I thought that the real diamond was hidden, and I am really grateful to him.

▶(Private) Most of the comments were from Korean soldiers. We did a lot of consolation performances, but I was so impressed and proud to see that you did not forget that time and came to see our video and left comments.

▶(Eunji) There were a lot of funny comments among the comments, but among the witty comments, there were many witty comments such as’If you play this song, you will win the war’ or’The People’s Army also shakes back’, but I like it,’I look happy with Chin. ‘I think those comments are the most memorable.

-I heard that’Rolin’ was hot on Millboard (Military + Billboard) at the time, but is the atmosphere of the music broadcast quite different from when performing in the military base?

▶(Minyoung) The reaction is really 180 degrees different. We actually had a small fandom, so when we broadcast music, it was difficult to realize the cheers of our fans. However, when we perform in the military base, they send us a lot of cheers and shouts, so the reason why we laughed when we stood on the stage is that the energy is delivered to us and we are happy, and the people who watch (stage) are also happy. It feels overwhelming beyond words.

-When I searched the previous video, there was a case where member Yuna fell from a chair, but at that time, Yuna worked hard without knowing anything…

▶(Yuna) I was really watching the video, but (Yoojung) was smiling so brightly. I was in pain, but I was laughing too much (laughs)

▶(Yoojung) I was only enjoying that’my own stage’. I couldn’t see it because Yuna was in the back and I was in front of it, but after the stage, Yuna’s expression was so bad and the members around her said,’Are you okay? OK?’ It was like this, and when I saw the video I knew that I fell down, I fell too badly…

▶(Yuna) Actually, the chair wasn’t in jeopardy and there was a groove on the stage, but I should have put the chair in the wrong position, but the moment I went up because of the wrong position, the leg of the chair fell and the chair didn’t shake.

▶(Yoojung) How did I practice my intentions (laughs)

▶(Yuna) The muscles in my legs~ I’m fine now.

-Do you remember the 2019 Marine Corps 1st Division consolation train performance?

▶(All together) Yes, I can’t fly without (laughs)

▶(Eunji) Marine Corps soldiers prepared’Rolin’ as a talent show, and that was the day we went to the consolation train performance. So, the crew of the consolation train made a seat and performed together, wondering if it would be fun to go up the stage with the soldiers. I even cut the clothes myself and made the costumes, and it was really shocking… . (laugh)

▶(Yoojung) Among the best comments on the video, there was a comment saying’Oh, the Marines catch ghosts like this’, so it was a very impressive and meaningful stage.

-Among the reasons people like Brave Girls’ Rollin stage, there are a lot of people saying that it’s a happy face with’Chin’. What do you think? (Especially, Yujeong’s 100% happy expression)

▶(Yoojung) Actually, when I go up the stage, I don’t see many people. Just take a picture of the one who responds best, “I’ll show you everything today, be prepared.” I go in first, put a dot, sit down and keep looking at only that friend from the moment I raise my head when I start. In fact, this energy doesn’t come out well when the eyes are distracted. So, if only one person takes a picture, the friend who responds best is just going crazy. Then I am so happy and laughed at it, too.

-What is your future activity plan & last thing you want to say?

▶(Private) In fact, it’s the first time we’ve received such a hot interest, so we’re still so stupid and we don’t have time to think about our future plans. We want to do anything if there is a chance, and in fact, it was a point where we were so thirsty for all schedules and activities, so we are really grateful for this opportunity and can do anything if you call for it.

▶(Yoojung) We are still not sure what this place is, but we thank the Peeres fan clubs for making efforts to make it known to many people, and the soldiers of the ROK Army who cheered us up so that we can truly be happy when we get on the stage, and I sincerely thank all of the reservists who have been discharged from now on, and I will continue to be the Brave Girls who can continue to show you a good image in the future.
