[신차 2021] ② High-performance eco-friendly cars, SUVs and pickup trucks are coming… Genesis eG80·Kia Sportage-Chosunbiz

In the second quarter of next year, more than 10 different types of new cars such as high-performance cars, eco-friendly cars, sports utility cars (SUVs), and pickup trucks will be poured out. In particular, the Genesis brand’s first electric car, the eG80, and Kia Motors’ volume model, Sportage, are drawing attention. Consumers are also attracting attention to the Ranger Wildtrack and Ranger Raptor, which are the first pickup trucks that Ford Korea decided to officially import. Toyota is planning to recover sales volume by introducing the minivan Sienna Hybrid and the flagship Camry.

First of all, high-performance cars are scheduled to be released by Hyundai Motor Company’s Avante N line and BMW M135i.

Hyundai Motor’s high-performance N brand’Avante N’is similar in design to the Avante N line, but has a larger air intake and the wheels have been increased from 18 inches to 19 inches. To maximize aerodynamic performance, a diffuser is located under the rear bumper.

The powertrain configuration is expected to be the same as the Veloster N. The 2.0L gasoline turbo engine is combined with a 6-speed manual or 8-speed wet DCT to achieve a maximum output of 275 horsepower and a maximum torque of 36.0 kg.m.

BMW presents the M135i, a high-performance M performance model in the new 1-series lineup. It is equipped with the most powerful new four-cylinder 2.0ℓ turbo engine and an eight-speed automatic transmission among the BMW group lineup, producing a maximum output of 306 horsepower and a maximum torque of 45.0 kg·m. The time from stop to 100km/h is 4.8 seconds, and the combined fuel economy is 14~14.7km/liter. In the form of a hatchback, the body size is 4319mm, 1799mm and 1434mm in total length, width, and height respectively.

In the second quarter, electric cars and hybrid cars will also come out in a variety of ways.

First of all, Genesis is attracting attention with the G80 electric car. The first electric car of the Genesis brand was captured last summer while traveling around the Nurburgring track in Germany. The Genesis Family Look Crest Grill is applied, but as it is an electric car, it is completely blocked. In addition, the solar roof, which has been installed in the Sonata Hybrid, is expected to be applied.

The powertrain is not known yet, but it is predicted that it will be able to run more than 500km with one charge.

Mercedes-Benz is planning to launch a compact car EQA of the electric car brand EQ. The goal is to introduce EQA to the domestic market in the first half of next year, but since only prototypes have been released overseas, domestic release may be further delayed. EQA’s concept car was unveiled at the ‘2017 Frankfurt Motor Show’.

If the information disclosed so far in various media such as foreign media is summarized, the mileage is expected to display 400 km per charge, a maximum output of 268 horsepower, and a maximum torque of 51.0 kgm (500 Nm). It takes about 5 seconds to reach 100k/h from stop.

Toyota introduces the Siena hybrid model for the first time in Korea. It is expected to compete with Kia Motors Carnival as a 4th generation completely modified model released in May. A 2.5-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine, two electric motors, and a CVT stepless transmission are combined to produce a maximum output of 243 horsepower. The distance that can only be run by electricity is about 52 km and the combined fuel economy is 14 km per liter.

For convenience, a 9.0-inch touch screen and 7.0-inch digital instrument panel compatible with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and Amazon Alexa are applied. All trims are reported to be equipped with’Toyota Safety Sense 2.0′, which includes automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go function, lane departure warning with steering assist function, road sign assist, and automatic high beam.

Toyota is also releasing a model with partial changes to the Camry. As it is a partially modified model, there is no significant difference compared to the previous model, but the shape of the front bumper and grille was refined, and a 17 18-inch wheel design was added. The indoor infotainment system has been changed to a floating method and has a 9-inch display. In the case of the hybrid model, the 2.5-liter gasoline engine is equipped with an electric motor, producing a maximum output of 208 horsepower.

In the second quarter, SUVs of various car classes, ranging from semi-medium to extra large, will be released. First of all, Kia Motors Sportage and Cadillac XT4 will be released in the case of semi-mid-sized SUVs.

The Sportage is the world’s best-selling car among Kia’s models. In the case of a completely modified model to be released in the second quarter, overseas media have recently released design predictions based on test car photos. The front part is expected to take the form of a combination of the grille and headlamps that Hyundai Motor Company previously showed in Tucson. However, in the case of Sportage, a sharper angled headlamp gives a strong impression.

The powertrain is expected to add a hybrid engine to 1.6 gasoline and 2.0 diesel. In the case of the hybrid, an electric motor is added to the 1.6 gasoline engine, and the combined fuel economy is expected to be about 16.2 km per liter.

Cadillac XT4 is based on its own platform, with a large number of unique designs, relaxed performance, and connectivity-based technologies. It maximizes its utility as an SUV by completing the widest two-row legroom and loading space among the segment in its class. It is expected to be released in the first half of the year, but the specific timing, price, and trim are undecided.

Cadillac is also releasing a completely modified model of Escalade, a large SUV. It is a 5th generation model that will be released 7 years after the 4th generation model in 2013. State-of-the-art technology and high-end specifications have been integrated while containing a new design identity based on the’Scalar’ concept car unveiled at the Detroit Auto Show in 2017.

In particular, the industry’s first 4K-class 38-inch OLED curved display is applied inside, from the driver’s seat to the center fascia. AKG audio system with a total of 36 speakers built-in was also applied for the first time in the industry. A 6.2ℓ V8 gasoline engine, next-generation magnetic ride control and 10-speed transmission were applied.

Ford Korea is releasing the’New Ford Expedition’, the largest SUV model in Ford. In Korea, the 4th generation model released in 2017 is coming. Expedition is sold overseas in two models: long body and short body. The total length is 5330 mm for the short body and 5640 mm for the long body. The overall width and height are 2123 mm and 1945 mm, respectively. The expedition is equipped with a V6 3.5ℓ eco-boost and a 10-speed automatic transmission to deliver a maximum output of 375 horsepower and a maximum torque of 65.0 kg·m.

Lincoln Korea is also planning to introduce the’New Lincoln Navigator’ in the second quarter. The Navigator is the top model of the large SUV aviator released in April, and the size of the car is 5334mm in length, 2029mm in width, 1940mm in height, and the length of the long wheel base model reaches 5700mm. Equipped with a V6 3.5ℓ eco-boost twin-turbo gasoline engine, it produces a maximum output of 450 horsepower.

To commemorate the 50th anniversary of its birth, Land Rover is releasing a special edition,’Range Rover 50 (Fifty)’. Only 1970s, which are the same as the number in the year the first-generation model debuted, are produced and sold worldwide. About 30 vehicles are expected to enter Korea.

On the limited model, Land Rover Chief Design Officer Gary McGovern’s’Fifty’ sign is engraved on the inside and outside of the vehicle. There is a plaque on the center console indicating that it is one of the 1970s. In addition, the exterior colors used in the first-generation models, such as Tuscan Blue, Bahama Gold, and Davos White, were also added.

In 2Q, two pickup trucks will also be released. These are’New Ford Ranger Wildtrak’ and’New Ford Ranger Raptor’ released by Port Korea.

The Ranger Wildtrack is Ford’s classic 4X4 pickup truck, equipped with a 2.0ℓ biturbo diesel engine and a 10-speed automatic transmission, providing stable driving performance on and off-road.

The Ranger Raptor is a pickup truck designed for driving in off-road environments. Based on a solid undercarriage, it will be equipped with’Baja Mode’, an off-road racing mode.
