Savings Bank President Park Jae-sik said in a New Year’s address for employees on the 4th, “As it is uncertain whether the economy will recover from Corona 19 this year, it is expected that the demand for small and medium-sized businessmen and ordinary people will increase, and inclusive financial and consumer protection will be strengthened. “In addition, digital competition will intensify due to the introduction of open banking,” he said.
He said, “In consideration of such business environment, we will set the goal of’Stable Growth Support for Enhancement of Competitiveness’ this year, and we plan to promote businesses such as △expanding financial support for the common people △expansion of digital financial infrastructure △consumer protection.”
Among them, the expansion of financial support for the common people is promoted as a top priority. Chairman Park said, “We will expand financial support to small and medium-sized businesses and the common people through the supply of mid- and low-interest rates, such as expanding the handling of policy-based financial products such as Sunshine Loan and products with special contributions from local credit guarantee foundations and savings banks.”
It also mentioned accelerating digital transformation and deregulation. He said, “We will promote the expansion of digital financial infrastructure through the establishment of digital window business and business alliances with big tech and fintech companies. We will also achieve stabilization of savings bank management by easing regulations on savings banks through revision of savings bank laws.” Said. He then emphasized, “We will strive to improve the credibility and image of savings banks by strengthening financial consumer protection, including support for the vulnerable in digital finance.”
In addition, Chairman Park added, “Although it is the new year that started with difficulties, I ask all the executives and employees to work together as one with the attitude of’Kyungin-jong (堅忍至終) to achieve the goal by firmly enduring the difficulties.”
