[이투뉴스] 2020 was a year of new life. It was a climate crisis that everyone has warned of, but our whole life has been twisted in a way no one expected. The solar industry was also shaken from time to time in front of the unexpected challenge of Corona 19. Nevertheless, we are about to overcome it with the efforts of the people in the industry. It is all thanks to you who are working hard for the development of the Korean solar industry at this moment and now. Thank you.

Experts are pointing out. The climate crisis and the spread of Corona 19 are said to be closely related. Scientists say the planned tragedy of the spread of a new virus could come if the transition to a decarbonised economy is not in a hurry. It is our task that cannot be delayed any longer. 2021 should be the first year for Korea to become a carbon neutral country.

RPS market restructuring is expected to keep pace with the restructuring of electricity bills. The market to be reorganized should be fair, taking the old chaos as a teacher. Clear regulation on renewable energy is the first challenge. It is true that unrenewable energy sources were grouped under the name of new and renewable energy, causing market confusion. Fortunately, related discussions and proposals for revision of the legislation are continuing in the National Assembly, so it seems that Korea will finally be able to distinguish between renewable energy and new energy. It is expected that the system to normalize the market will be reorganized.

The Korea Photovoltaic Industry Association will also do its job to implement the Green New Deal policy declared by the Moon Jae-in administration and realize the 2050 Net Zero. We will try our best to develop new markets and point out and supplement the deficiencies of the system. We will also speak up for restoration of the PV manufacturing value chain and clearing up market turmoil.

The road to an energy-converted society and a carbon-neutral country can be a rough road. We are well aware of the concerns of some of the industry. “What happened now, it seemed impossible at first,” said Nelson Mandela. These are the words that we must remember ahead of energy conversion. For all of you, I hope that 2021 will be a year when things to be done will be solved, even if it is a little difficult. Thank you.
