Nongshim founder Shin Chun-ho passed away on the 27th. 91 years old.

Born in Ulsan in 1930, the deceased founded Nongshim in 65 and launched Shin Ramyun and Chapaghetti, earning the nickname’Ramen King’, winning the title of number one in the ramen industry.

Nongshim has gained popularity in every ramen, starting with the raccoon dog (82), Anseongtang-myeon (83), chapaghetti (84), and Shin Ramyun (86). It quickly climbed to the top of the ramen and snack industry. In his autobiography published in 1999, Chairman Shin also recalled, “Beef ramen, instant jajangmyeon, raccoon, Anseongtangmyeon, Shin ramen, etc. hit every climax and became the foundation to cultivate the current Nongshim.”

‘Shin Ramyun’, which is evaluated as his masterpiece, has been exported to more than 100 countries around the world and is playing a role as a’Korean food diplomat’. Nongshim Shrimp Crackers is also considered an old’national snack’.

Another nickname that modifies him is’the master of naming’. There are a lot of product names or advertising copies that he wrote himself. Shin Ramyun, made after his last name, Maeul Shin, is representative. His famous works include’japaghetti’ (jajang + spaghetti) and shrimp cracker, which means to mix jajang sauce like spaghetti. His work is also a copy of advertisements such as “The Man Ringing Shin Ramyun” and “Drive a Raccoon.”

Chairman Shin is also the second younger brother of the late Lotte Group founder Gyeok-ho Shin, who died last year. Originally, he worked with his brother at an affiliate of the Lotte Group, but when the ramen business, which Honorary Chairman Shin objected to, was promoted, the relationship was broken.

Founded Lotte Industries in ’65 and sold’Lotte Ramen’, but in 1978, he changed its name to’Nongshim’ and completely broke up with Lotte. It is said that these brothers did not recover their relationship in the end until the death of President Shin.

The survivors include Shin Dong-won, vice chairman of Nongshim, Dong-yoon, vice chairman of Yulchon Chemical, and Dong-ik, vice chairman of Mega Mart.
