The 6th 3rd new town will be built in Siheung, Gwangmyeong. It was decided to build a medium-sized public housing site in the Daejeo of Busan and the mountaintop of Gwangju.

Earlier, the government announced that it will secure new housing sites capable of supplying 263,000 houses across the country, including 180,000 households in the metropolitan area by 2025 in the ‘2nd and 4th measures’.

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport held a briefing on the 24th and announced the location of the first new public housing site.

‘Gwangmyeong Siheung’ will be supplied with 70,000 households on a 12.71 million㎡ site in Gwangmyeong-dong and Okgil-dong, Gwangmyeong-si, and Guarim-dong, Siheung-si. The site size is 4.3 times that of Yeouido, the largest among the existing 3rd new towns. The government plans to create a pleasant environment by constructing a park, green area and waterfront park that is 1.3 times the area of ​​Yeouido (3.8 million square meters) in Siheung New Town, Gwangmyeong.

In addition, a railroad-oriented public transportation system will be established to improve accessibility to Seoul. It plans to build an urban railroad that penetrates the new city so that it can be linked with subway lines 1, 2 and 7, the Sinansan Line, and the GTX-B.

The Daejeo District in Busan (243 million square meters), which will house 18,000 households, will be built in Daejeo-dong, Gangseo-gu, Busan. In order to strengthen self-sufficiency functions linked to the Busan R&D Special Zone, a self-sufficient site of 150,000 square meters will be placed, and the location adjacent to the Nakdong River will be utilized to create a park and green space of 620,000 square meters. The Busan Gimhae Light Rail Station will also be established in the district for comfortable commuting to downtown Busan.

Gwangju Sanjeong District (1.68 million㎡) is a residential site built in the area of ​​Sanjeong-dong and Jangsu-dong, Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju City, and is supplied with 13,000 houses. It is characterized by supplying high-quality residential areas for workers, such as the Bitgreen Industrial Complex, and establishing smart logistics and youth entrepreneurship platforms.

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport plans to designate the new public housing site as a planned development area as soon as the public announcement of the new public housing site announced on the day, and bind the surrounding area as a land transaction permission area. In the case of land transaction permission zones, speculative land transactions such as land ownership or superficies for up to five years are blocked.

In addition, a plan to revitalize compensation for land has been devised and implemented so that compensation from housing site development will not flow back into the real estate market and overheat the market, and support for resettlement of natives will be strengthened.

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport plans to complete the district designation in the first half of next year to recruit tenants of the first new public housing site from 2025.
