The court raised the hand of the Seoul Metropolitan Government in the court workshop surrounding the holding of the March 1 holiday assembly.

On the 26th, the Seoul Administrative Court did not accept requests from the Free Korea Foundation, the Christian Freedom and Unification Party, and the April 15 Unfair Election National Struggle Headquarters to halt Seoul’s ban on assembly.

The 13th Department of Administration (Director Nak-Won Jang) rejected the request for suspension of execution by the Free Korea Foundation and the April 15 Unfair Election National Struggle Headquarters. The 14th Department of Administration (Director Sang-Hoon Lee) rejected the request for suspension of execution made by the Institute for Freedom and Human Rights against Seoul, and rejected the application for suspension of execution made by the Unification of Christianity.

Accordingly, these groups were prevented from holding the March 1 rally.

According to the Seoul Metropolitan Government, the Free Korean National Team has applied for a March 1 rally near Gyeongbokgung Station, the Christian Freedom and Unification Party near Sarangchae in the Blue House, and in front of the KT building in Gwanghwamun. The Seoul Metropolitan Government imposed a ban on the basis of the quarantine guidelines and notice of restrictions on assembly, and organizations filed an administrative lawsuit requesting that the execution of the disposition be suspended.

Organizations argued that the scientific evidence that the rally is affecting the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (Corona 19) is lacking. On the other hand, the Seoul Metropolitan Government refuted that “if it presents a convincing plan to comply with the quarantine regulations, it will not be banned unconditionally.”

In August of last year, the Seoul Administrative Court accepted the suspension of execution requested by three organizations that opposed Seoul’s ban on Gwanghwamun assembly. Initially, the number of participants they applied for was 2,000, 1,000, and 100, respectively, but more than 10,000 people gathered at the gathering around Gwanghwamun that day. Since then, the number of corona19 confirmed cases has increased rapidly, and the court has not allowed most of the assembly.
