The number of confirmed cases of a new coronavirus infection (Corona 19) in Korea has continued to reach 400 for the third day, showing signs of re-proliferation. This is due to a series of cases of large and small outbreaks in various places, including Hanyang University Hospital in Seoul, while the aftermath of group infection initiated by IM Mission continues. On the 31st, the government will announce a proposal to adjust the’social distancing’ (currently, the 2.5th stage in the metropolitan area and the second stage in the non-metropolitan area) and whether to extend the ban on private gatherings with more than 5 people.
◇ Local occurrence 423 people… Metropolitan area 303, non-metropolitan area 120
On the 30th, the Central Defense Countermeasure Headquarters announced that as of 0 o’clock on the day, the number of new corona19 confirmed cases in Korea increased by 458, accumulating 77,000. It was slightly less than the previous day (469). The number of deaths increased by 15 from the previous day to a cumulative 1,414. The average fatality rate in Korea is 1.82%. The number of patients with severe gastric disorders decreased by 8 to 231.
The’third pandemic’, which has been continuing for about two and a half months since mid-November last year, peaked on the 25th of last month (1,240 people), and then showed a tendency to gradually calm down into the new year. However, starting from the group infection of IM Mission, it has turned to an increase again. From the 24th of this month, for the last week, the number of new confirmed cases was 392 → 437 → 349 → 559 → 497 → 469 → 458 daily.
Looking at the path of infection of new confirmed patients on this day, 423 local outbreaks and 35 foreign inflows. In the area where confirmed cases were found, 303 were in the metropolitan area, including 152 in Seoul, 136 in Gyeonggi, and 15 in Incheon.
In the non-capital area, there were 32 people in Gwangju, 21 people in Gyeongbuk, 18 people in Busan, 11 people in each of Chungbuk and Gyeongnam, 8 people in each of Daegu and Chungnam, 3 people each in Gangwon-Jeonbuk, 2 people in Jeju, and 1 person each in Daejeon, Ulsan, and Jeonnam. There are a total of 120 confirmed cases in the non-metropolitan area.
In the case of major infections, a total of 355 people were confirmed as of the previous day, related to 6 unlicensed alternative education facilities operated by IM Mission in 5 provinces nationwide. 15 people increased from the previous day (340 people).
In addition, at least 23 people were confirmed as a new group infection occurred the day before at Hanyang University Hospital in Seoul. In the case of nursing home #2 in Suwon-si, Gyeonggi-do, 26 confirmed patients came out two days after the first patient came out on the 27th. In addition, a total of 35 people were tested positive for welfare facilities in Jung-gu, Seoul, and the cumulative number of cases of workplaces in Gangnam-gu increased to 44.
◇ 35 people from overseas… Severe gastrointestinal patients decreased by 8 to 231
There were 35 confirmed cases of overseas inflow, 11 more than the previous day (24). Of these, 15 were confirmed during quarantine at the airport or port. The remaining 20 were confirmed while self-isolation at residential or temporary living facilities in Gyeonggi (10), Seoul, Busan (2 each), Gwangju, Daejeon, Ulsan, Chungnam, Gyeongbuk, and Gyeongnam (1 each).
When local outbreaks and foreign inflows (excluding quarantine) are combined, there are 315 people in the metropolitan area, including 154 in Seoul, 146 in Gyeonggi, and 15 in Incheon. Nationally, new confirmed cases have appeared in 16 provinces excluding Sejong.
The number of tests per day the previous day was 47,268, 193 more than the previous day (47,75). The positive rate, calculated as compared to the number of tests the previous day, was 0.97% (458 out of 47,268), which was slightly lower than 1.0% the day before (469 out of 47,075). As of 0 o’clock on this day, the cumulative positive rate was 1.39% (77,850 out of 5.56,530).
