The Central Election Commission announced on the 7th that the turnout for re-by-election elections in 21 places nationwide, including the mayors of Seoul and Busan, was 1.5% as of 7 am.

The voting, which began at 6 am on the day, was attended by 17,8561 out of 12,16,624 voters.

The pre-voting (20.54% voting rate) conducted on the last 2-3 days was not included. Advance voting is added to the turnout, which is released from 1 p.m., along with residence (via mail) voting.

The turnout on this day is 0.7 percentage points lower than the turnout rate (2.2%) at the same time at the time of the 21st general election in 2020, the most recent election. In the 2018 local election, the turnout at the same time was 2.2%, and at the time of the April 3 re-election in 2019, it was 1.5%.

In the election of the mayor of Seoul, 132,000 people voted, recording a 1.6% turnout. At the same time, the number of voters in the Busan mayoral election was 39,000, recording a turnout of 1.3%.

The voter turnout for the by-election of the heads of basic organizations, such as the head of Ulsan Nam-gu and Uiryeong-gun, Gyeongnam, was calculated at 1.0% and 1.6%, respectively.
